How do lock screen widgets affect phone speed?

I’ve been customizing my phone recently and added a bunch of widgets to my lock screen. It got me wondering—do these widgets impact the speed or performance of my phone? I’ve noticed a slight delay when unlocking, but it could just be my imagination.

Do lock screen widgets use up a lot of resources, like battery? Are there certain types that are more resource-heavy than others? Would love to hear your experiences or any tips on optimizing performance while still keeping some widgets.

Unless you have an old phone running an old version of Android, this is an iPhone thing? I don't have an iPhone, but it would seem to me that if you have a bunch of widgets on your lock screen, that's where you've allowed the apps related to the widgets to run on the screen all the time so you don't have to unlock the screen to get to them. If apps are running constantly, then your battery will drain faster. Could possibly slow down the overall performance if you have a lot of apps running simultaneously. Also, if any app updates come out, then the apps are going to update themselves immediately because they're always running, which isn't a big deal if you're on an unlimited plan, but you wouldn't want stuff going constantly if you have some data-metered plan.
