Fios TV+

I just installed the new Fios+ services, including the VMS 4100 ATV and two new setup boxes. Really no trouble with the installation, found it very easy. My question: will my streaming apps - Netflix, Prime, etc. show my content in 4K? I have a 4K TV and pay extra for the Netflix 4K service for example. I'm curious whether what I'm watching will be in 4K or not (haven't spent any time looking at it yet). One other question - I was sent one extra set top box and remote which I don't need. Should I return that? I don't think I'm being charged for it.

I agree with dexman about returning the extra box. Since they have to be registered when setting up, Veriizon will have a record of its use. That could bite you later. The boxes are fully capable of 4K HDR , and should pass it on to your TV if the box sees a 4K HDR capable TV when it is first installed. Not all programming is 4K, but programming that is should show as 4K. The box will also upscale all programming to 4K if hooked up to a 4K capable TV.

I would contact Verizon Sales on Monday. Always better than finding a surprise STB rental charge on the bills.

I have Fios One STBs so I can't say what the expected video resolution will be for the + STBs.

OK thanks very helpful. I'll take your advice re: the extra box. One last question re: the installation. Very minor problem - I have an older Samsung TV which I set up yesterday with the new Fios +. When I tried to turn off the TV using the power button on the remote, it turned off the set top box, but not the TV itself. After a few seconds I got a screen with "snow" and had to use an older remote to turn off the TV itself. This doesn't happen with my newer LG 4K set, which works perfectly. Any suggestions?

The codes for the Samsung television might not be loaded into the remote. Short of using both remotes, I can't think of a workaround. Clem might have some suggestions.
