I was sent 2 separate text messages one on November 7, 2024 and one on November 10, 2024 stating that if I added a new line and smartphone to my account that I would receive a $200 eGift card.On November 12, 2024 I completed my online purchase with a sales representative over the phone following a coversation with a chat representative where it was stated that if I completed my order, I would receive a $200 eGift card. Upon the start of the phone conversation with the sales representative, I asked if the $200 eGift card would still be honored and was told that it would. I was told again later in the phone call and a third time at the end of the phone call when I asked to verify that it would be honored. I was told that it would, and that it was a credit that would be applied to the account 30 days after activation. I was told that this eGift card could be used for anything that I wanted related to the account whether that be for the bill, a device, headphones, a phone case, whatever it may be. Following the verification, I proceeded with the purchase. It has been over 30 days since the phone was activated, and the credit has yet to be added to the account. I called Verizon customer service today and was initially talking to a customer service representative who stated that he did not see the "rebate" attached to the new line, he then proceeded to ask for the number to the new Ipad that was also purchased on the same day. Once provided he said "Oh I think I see it" and then the line went silent and I heard the "on hold" music. A rebate representative picked up the line next and stated that he did not see the "rebate" and that he was transferring me to customer service. Upon transfer, a customer service representative stated multiple times "don't worry about the gift card, you were promised it so it will be added to the account" she then transferred me to her superior who proceeded to tell me that because I did not accept the gift card in the chat that it was void even though the phone sales representative had stated multiple times that it was valid and even explained the process to me. Seeing the 103 other people that have had this same issue where they have been promised this same promotional value and it has not been honored tells me that this was all a farce and was never going to be honored but was simply a scheme used by Verizon to get more purchases and lines.
