In 2022 I started a service with Verizon and had genuinely the worst customer service I’ve ever received when trying to get Fios set up. They kept telling me I had an appointment set for a time that worked for me, but when I would check the all, it was set to a different time that I would not be available for. I had to contact customer service no less than 6 different times where I was put through the same frustrating questions and generic messages only to eventually be told the time would be changed, which it again was not. I spent probably 8 hours on all of these conversations before I finally got through to a higher representative who was actually helpful. Due to how frustrated I was and everything I went through, she offered to upgrade me to gigabit for the same price, locked in on that plan. I felt good about it and it made me think they actually cared about their customers.
Well, every year since then, my bill keeps going up $10/month. I ignored it for the first year, but after the second time I contacted Verizon to see what was up and see if I could be returned to the rate I was previously promised. The customer service experience was once again abysmal and they clearly showed no remorse or concern, so I planned on leaving Verizon at the end of the year I had started with them. Now TODAY, in the middle of my service year, my bill went up AGAIN by $5, with AGAIN no email or notice to inform me of the change or the reason behind the change. When I had to go digging in the app (which randomly reset my password for “security reasons,” wasting another 5 minutes of my day), the only reason I could find was “miscellaneous services increased.”
I’m absolutely done with this company and if you’ve been having your own frustrations, hopefully you take this as a sign to switch as well. Verizon clearly does not care about its customers; the customer service is offshored where there’s nothing but generic responses and empty promises, price promises mean nothing, they’ll continue to raise your bill relentlessly for no genuine purpose… I sincerely hope they start to lose more business so they start to scramble to retain customers. I don’t see myself ever using Verizon again come June.
