Blacklisted IMEI

Hi, last week I bought an iPhone from FB marketplace, the seller was very kind and came to my area to sell me the phone, but after I tried to install the eSIM I couldn’t and I discovered that the phone is blacklisted, I call the customer service and i gave them the phone number of the seller, they told me he was a Verizon customer that haven’t paid his bills, i want to solve this issue because i feel i am a victim here, and the company should put that person in the blacklist instead of the phone, the seller got 400$ and the company and I lost, I hope you can help me to solve this issue and move my phone from the blacklist. I can give you all the proofs.

Unfortunately you got 'taken' by the seller. I had a similar incident several years ago with a phone that I bought off eBay which worked for 8 months and then was kicked off the network. The seller had stopped paying for their service and the phone.

It will not be removed from Verizon's financial blacklist unless the person pays off their account and pays for the phone.

You should have been concerned when they agreed to come to you to sell the phone. They didn't want you to know where they lived, so you couldn't come get your money back. That was a . They were probably aware that the phone may be blocked from Verizon's Network for exactly this reason.

Verizon does have the right to get paid for its service and phones. Other service providers have other methods of blocking phones in cases of fraud or theft. It does make it more difficult to safely purchase second hand phones.

Your only hope is to get a refund from the seller. There is no way for a second buyer to get a blacklisted phone off of the blacklist. Unfortunately, phones which don't work for some reason or another (busted, blacklisted, carrier locked) are extremely common with second-hand purchases as many small retailers don't check the history of the devices and individual sellers can easily dump messed up phones to unsuspecting people in online versions of flea markets.
