I am having a horrible time getting assistance with the Fios Legacy Box Upgrade so I thought I would try this way...I am setting up new TV One boxes for a friend. I have hooked up the TV One boxes to the newer TVs. I am now left with two old cathode ray TVs, but will ask about one at a time. So here goes:
Her previous Fios box was the Motorola 700 US. It had two hookup points for coax cables, one that came from the wall, and one that went out to the TV. The mini box, which I am trying to hook up, has one coax hookup, that the tech person I was able to talk to told me was for the cable coming from the wall. The problem is that the ONLY input the TV has is thru coax, and there is no place for it to hook up to the new box. That person told me just to use the old Motorola box and that it would not "die" in April, but another person told me it would die in April. So I am getting different stories from different people. And, to top it off, last time I called to see if I could get technical help, I just kept getting someone who wanted to 'go over the account' and couldn't give technical help. So...
I understand that the mini box can get a signal thru wifi. If I disconnect the coax line from the wall to the TV, can the coax hookup in the mini box be used to carry the signal to the TV? (I guess I am asking if it can be output as well as input.)
if that won't work, is there an adapter that would attach to the cable coming from the tv that would let it use one of the other hookups on the mini box...Like coax to hdmi, for instance. If so, what is it called, and will Verizon supply it?
I have spent hours on this! (We are both 80+ years, so this isn't easy. ) How do I get technical help from Verizon? If I have to spend more time telling someone I am not going to discuss the account until the upgrade is completed, I think I will go mad!
