About 2 months ago my son who has an iPhone through VZW, all on the same family plan, made a comment to me that every time he calls me the calls go straight to VM, or it rings and it goes straight to VM. I didn't think much of it and never had a missed call notification. He said it again a few days later. Both times I was on wifi. My husband then said the same thing, but it was about 1/2 of the time that he calls me. Neither one of them are having call issues to each other. I contacted the phone support but they were of no use. All they tried to do was sell me the home protection plan, because, in his words, 'You can see how upsetting it is when a device is not working.'
Using my research skills, I honed in on the possibility of the SIM card being damaged. I had a 13 or 14, can't remember. I went to the local VZW authorized store and they couldn't figure it out. While I was there my husband tried to call me, and guess what, the incoming call failed on my side but to him, it went to VM. I would have intermittent outgoing call issues, maybe once or twice a year, but that is it. After sitting at the store forever, and them not being able to figure it out, I got a new phone on trade in. All seemed to go well that night. The next morning, my first outgoing call was a call fail. I went to the VZW store and they are at a loss. They looked at call settings, I wasn't on DND, not on Focus, etc. At first they thought to exchange the phone but I declined, pointing out that it has now been two phones that have done this and nothing has changed.
It has been about two weeks with the new phone. He still has the issue. Today he tried to call me 9x in a row and it did the VM thing. Any ideas?
I am on iOS 18.3.2. I have done the network settings restart.
