USB port damaged on moto g 5G 2024 - need to transfer all data to new phone

The USB port on my moto g 5G 2024 is physically damaged I think. It will charge if I wiggle the cable just right but can no longer select "data transfer" option when the cable is connected to a computer. Tried multiple cables to eliminate that. It's the USB port on the phone

I bought a new phone of the same model.

Obviously it is locked so most functions are not available until activated.

Should I move the SIM and SD card from the old to the new phone, then activate it with verizon by adding it to my prepaid family plan?

At that point, my old phone would no longer be active on verizon. Would I think be able to transfer whatever data remains in the core memory of the old phone to the new one over bluetooth?

Have you looked into whether or not the USB port could be repaired? Also, I don't recommend moving your old SIM card to a new phone, even if it is from the same manufacturer and just a newer model. It used to be you could do that without issues, but someone reported recently that when they tried moving their old SIM card to a newer same-brand phone, it totally messed up the new phone to where it wouldn't work and sounded like a pretty big hassle to get it running with a new SIM or eSIM.

Data can be transferred via Bluetooth, but it's pretty slow. If you've got a lot of files, going to burn up your battery on both phones like crazy. I would still factory reset the old phone no matter what afterwards.
