I currently have Fios internet. I want to add back digital voice phone service for home & business after using VoIP phone service for a few years so I could take my local number abroad. I did use Fios with the house jacks previously. It worked great! I want to utilize several jacks throughout the house with “landline” phones. The matter is slightly complicated at present. A family member wants to go in with me and drop Comcast, but he’s on a separate floor two floors below me for some of his phone use. The ONT box is near where he needs the internet connection and phone service on the lower floor. How can this be done? He doesn’t want to use a phone “jack” for the phone - and is telling me he should be able to plug in somehow to the internet for his phone. But I told him this isn’t VoIP. We don’t have any jacks installed down the basement. He also wouldn’t continually be using wi-fi, but will need access to it when he does want to use it. (not often). I have the router upstairs in my home office. I can’t imagine he’d need a second router? Most connections should come out of that ONT box, (the Fios main box) which is not that far from where he’d need service. (it’s a few yards away).
