Home Phone Connect to Mobile Porting

I have had a verizon home phone connect since they first started years and years ago. Since the network extender was disconnected when new towers were put in, my mobile service is better, but the home phone is near intolerable to talk on. We are just outside the city to network is sketchy in any case.

I called to port my home phone to a mobile and they said it wasn't possible, but I could get a new number. This number is used for business and I've had it since 2003. It was originally a landline that was transferred to a home phone connect.

Is this possible or am I stuck porting outside of Verizon to get this to a mobile number?

Landlines sometimes cannot be ported. Or it's possible you got someone who didn't know how to convert the landline to mobile?

Since it is a business number, what about contacting the business accounts section of Verizon and asking if they can help you with setting up a VoIP service for the landline? Then it will still be a landline, just not on the outdated copper wire technology. The competition also offers business account services, which I'd have to think are not necessarily mobile lines. You can also look for independent VoIP operators to see if they can port in the landline.

Thanks for the reply. We have a Verizon Home Phone Connect, so not a traditional landline. We've had it for (I believe) over 15 years and service has always been spotty.

I'm trying to find something that is simple and easy to use with clear service. We need multiple handsets with intercoms (or maybe we just need to buy a separate intercom system). I was mulling around switching to a cell phone (like an iPhone 16 pro) that could double as camera/video when we shoot (this is an artist studio).

The artist is a pen/paper, very much NON computer guy. Brilliant, but autistic and, unfortunately, has dementia so everything needs to be kept simple. He gets frustrated easily. The too simple ones either don't have handsets or don't have intercoms or something else.

Not sure what the correct solution is.
