Just FYI, OTA rollouts are completely random, you get it when you get it (and it usually comes in the middle of the night).
I'd still like people to post here when they receive the OTA, and show their location, random or not. It's nice to see positive comments here for a change when people finally receive what they have deserved all along.
They just pushed the update to my phone, it's a 10% complete at the moment.

It failed to install, downloading again, we shall see.

Up and running with the Froyo now! After it installs, it restarts. Mine hung for about 5-10 minutes on the Verizon animation before it finally loaded the screens. It does reset all the home screens to default, so I'm in the process of reorganizing everything how I like it again. Browser speed is definitely faster. Haven't tried flash yet. GPS locked on the fastest it ever has on this phone.
So far so good.
Might be a stupid question but what does auto rotation do???

I'm in Salem, Alabama and my phone is updating now
ok 5 min or so to OTA download, 10 min or so to install and reboot. Seems to work fine...faster! Waited less than 90 days to get it. I guess all those other dummies just bought the phone too early... Just teasing...good luck to all.

Try taking out the battery, putting it back in and restarting your phone. That happen to me on the last update and that fixed it

I'm in Nashville and got the OTA update ... last night, actually. No snafus. And I love the improvements to Gmail. And the addition of Flash. Good stuff.

Got mine last night around 9:00 in Nashville. So far I like the changes, especially with gmail and the native email client. Pretty sure I dislike the extra bloat they have given me.
I will have a better idea after living with it for a few days but so far the upgrade has been a positive.

For those who don't want to wait or are having issues with the OTA. This is the same as the OTA but is an update.zip that can be flashed in recovery. Directions included at the link above

Thanks. I downloaded three times and even reset the phone with same results. I will try again after removing and inserting the battery. Each re-try requires the entire package to be downloaded over OTA.

How is your signal strength? Have you tried it from another location?
Well folks, I have to tell ya'll that I just couldn't sleep last night? I woke up at exactly 12:03am, grabbed my well-used Eclair model and checked for updates - OMG! - there its was - staring me straight in the eye - the Froyo update! I had to pinch myself just to make sure I was awake! It took almost 37 minutes to download and another 7 minutes to install. When it was finished, I checked out the phone thoroughly and all I can say is: THANK YOU SAMSUNG AND VERIZON! I have to wonder if all of the e-mail complaints I sent to Samsung and Verizon had any effect on the final outcome! ....probably not!
Anyway, the installation and download were flawless with no errors! My wife's phone updated exactly as mine. I am running a little slow though, since I lost a couple of hours of sleep last night. I leave you with this bit of worthless information since I can't imagine ever using this dumb ole' forum again - "Stay away from root canals and dental work!" "Good luck with Ginerbread! and......
