I only want to carry one device. Can I add a second line to my work provided ipad
While an iPad is not able to be used with its own phone number, many phones can hold two numbers with our secondary line plan! Here is a link with details on that. If you are interested, let us know!

Because the iPad is provided by your employer and the line associated with it is a business account, my guess is no. Unless your employer is willing to add the line for you. Not all iPads support dual SIM, and some are not cellular capable.
