Hi everyone,
I’m having a persistent issue with my AirPods only during phone calls on my iPhone 16 Pro Max, and I’d like to see if anyone else has run into this with Verizon service.
Here’s what happens:
- The problem occurs only on my iPhone 16 Pro Max.
- The other person’s voice sounds tinny/metallic, laggy, robotic during calls.
- No issues at all with Zoom meetings, Teams, or streaming audio.
- The issue seems tied specifically to cell service calls.
- I tested my AirPods on my wife’s iPhone 16 Pro (same AirPods) and they worked perfectly.
- When I tested calls in Airplane Mode with Wi-Fi Calling enabled, they also worked fine.
What I’ve tried so far:
- Got a brand-new replacement pair of AirPods.
- Ran full diagnostics at the Apple Store (no issues detected).
- Reset network settings, unpaired/re-paired AirPods.
Since the problem only shows up on cellular calls with Verizon service, I’m starting to think this could be a Verizon network or codec/provisioning issue.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions or fixes Verizon support can provide?
Thanks in advance!
