We thought that Fios was fantastic in how they switched us from cable to YouTube TV and gave us some great deals along with it... We were wrong. Not only did Fios cancel our YouTubeTV account within 1-2 weeks of having it, but they also did it without notifying us at all. In fact, the only company that notified us of the cancellation was YouTube TV. Unfortunately, we never caught the email from YouTube and didn't realize until last night when we were in the 4th quarter of a football game. Screen goes to black followed by a message saying our "preview has ended." What is worse is that they have it listed on our account, so they are clearly planning to charge us for a service they do not intend to provide. Oh and this was cut off just minutes after customer service closed for the weekend...the 3-day weekend.
The pathway to get anyone to call is incredibly difficult. They have an AI function that is your only option. And it makes the assumption that you are calling because your internet is out. Oh, it also asks if you are calling about a specific account that isn't even your account. The technical support says that they are available 24/7, but when you call, the automated message says their office is closed (you know for that 25th hour on the 8th day of the week, I guess). Their callback system and chat also doesn't respond. I finally talked to someone from technical support this afternoon who said this is a customer service issue and I won't be able to reach anyone until Tuesday morning. I let her know about the 24/7 technical support not being available and she confirmed that while they are 24/7, the phone system and chat are not available after 7 PM. So, what is the communication option that is available during this time? Pigeon Carrier Service? Smoke Signals? Telegram? The latter is probably better than what they have now<<FULL STOP>>
Anyway, there is a chance that some who read this are going to think, "geez, it's just football." And if so, then you missed the point completely. So I missed a game. Who cares? I'm upset, rightfully, about the surreptitious method that Verizon Fios used to cancel my YouTube TV without my authorization as well as their decision to do this after customer service closed. That isn't a coincidence. That's a tactic. A very dishonest tactic.
