I recently retired from my company where we have a Verizon wireless account with about 15 lines. Since I’m retired, my company will cancel my line and will allow me to port the number and keep my phone. I did that step the other day and now discover that I am not eligible for any of the new phone purchase promos because Verizon views my number as an existing line instead of a new line. This in my mind is a new line because my company will stop paying my business line so in effect Verizon will lose the business revenue, but since I transferred to Verizon personal instead of a different carrier, Verizon treats my transfer as not being a new line.
the above is illogical and preventing me from getting a promotion discount to purchase a new phone. On the other hand if I transferred my phone line to AT&T or T-Mobile, I would be eligible to purchase a subsidized phone. Verizon not treating my transfer as a new line. is poor business in my case I clearly should’ve taken my line to another carrier. my line which my company was paying for when I was employed there is canceled meaning Verizon no longer receives revenue from that line. By bringing the line to Verizon under a personal account means that Verizon will now earn revenue as if I had brought a new line to Verizon. I don’t understand why I’m being blocked from phone purchase promos.
