New Google Pixel 10 Pro User !!!

New Google Pixel Phone user after years of using Motorola phones on Verizon Network.

Still learning about the phone and was disappointed to learn that the Verizon Call Filter App will not work on it really in 2025 and Spam calls are happening all of the time.

Verizon Voicemail App does not work with phone either that is also very disappointing, spent over 2 hrs on phone with Technical Support to retrieve voicemail that I accidentally deleted same day and after all of the troubleshooting there was nothing they could do, really in 2025 no way to retrieve or grace period for deleted voicemails.

Help with these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Hello. Do not install any voicemail apps from the Play Store on a Google Pixel phone

If you ever speak to Verizon about voicemail and you tell them you have a Pixel phone they might tell you that a Pixel phone does not support voicemail. That is 100% incorrect. I also use Verizon and their voicemail can be confusing at times on a Pixel phone. The Phone app has a Voicemail tab in the lower right, that is an access point to see or hear your voicemail messages, once the service is activated. Verizon offers two voicemail services: their "Basic VVM" service (which is free) and the Premium Plan (which costs money each month on your bill). Either of these is setup on their website, or the Verizon app, or by speaking with customer service. I think Verizon expects us all to have Basic VVM (at a minimum) and that is needed to "see" voicemail messages in the Phone app. You won't get true visual voicemail with the basic plan, it will still be audio you have to listen to, but you should see visual notifications that you have messages. I pay the $2.99 a month for Premium VVM and that gives true visual voicemail with scrolling text in the Phone app. So if you want true visual voicemail with scrolling text when using a phone with the Google Phone app (on Verizon) you have to pay for premium. Or just stick to basic VVM and you can listen to your messages.

Once you have confirmed with Verizon that all voicemail settings and service are active on all accounts (call Verizon customer support and make sure voicemail is active on all lines first), try clearing the cache for the Phone app. Open Settings > Apps > See {number} apps > Phone app > Storage & Cache > clear cache > restart your phone.

We don't want you to keep having issues with spam calls. If the Call Filter service isn't available on your phone, you can use the spam protection that comes with Pixel devices. You can turn it off and on using the steps here: https://support.google.com/phoneapp/answer/3459196?hl=en

Unfortunately, we are not able to retrieve lost voicemails. On the Google Pixel, you can save voicemails you've already listened to by going to your Phone app > Voicemail > Tap the voicemail you want to save > Select the Share icon. We're very sorry for the inconvenience.

I'm assuming that your new Pixel phone is factory unlocked and not a Verizon variant? If so, no factory unlocked phones will run Verizon-specific apps except for My Verizon. However, there are 3rd party apps available on the Google Play store for spam call blocking and visual voicemail. Your *86 voicemails should still be the same, but yes, there isn't a way to retrieve deleted voicemails from that system.
