I recently change my phone plan. It says i'm ineligible to upgrade through Apple or Best Buy

I recently changed my plan from the 5G Get More to the new Unlimited Plus because this will bring my monthly payments down, this will take effect of Oct. 4th. My iPhone 14 pro has been paid off. I want to get the iPhone 17 however it' on backorder through Verizon. So I looked through the Apple website and also Best Buy. Both sites have the trade-in device promo connected with Verizon. But every time I log in my Verizon account info through Apple or Best Buy it says that my line is ineligible for an upgrade. Is this because I recently just changed my plan? Should i wait until Oct. 4th to try again?

Hey there efeliano, it's great to hear that you'll be getting that new iPhone! You're likely running into that message because of the pending plan change on your account. You can wait until your plan changes and then order, or the plan change can be canceled so you can order earlier. What I would keep in mind is depending on if you're looking to take advantage of a credit, changing your plan may work in your favor. It would just be up to you if you're okay with changing your plan now or if you would like to wait until your new bill cycle. Does this help answer your question?

Thank you for your fast reply. I changed the date to start the new plan today instead. Should i wait until tomorrow to order the new phone through Apple/Best Buy? Or should I be good to order today?

I hope the plan change hasn't reset the device usage time period (the fine print says the trade-in device has to have been used on Verizon for 60 days). Although I'd think you used your iPhone 14 for longer than that, it was on a legacy plan which isn't eligible for promos and from what you're describing, the usage didn't transfer over when you switched to a current plan...so I'd wait a couple months to order the new iPhone?
