Switch to AT&T for Iphone 17 PRO Max or stay Verizon and switch from Iphone to Samsung?

First off this will sound like i am just complaining but i really am trying to get some serious opinions, and i do not want any official Verizon responses.

I have been with Verizon for 15 years straight. Last year i tried to upgrade from my 15 pro max to the 16 pro max. After 2 months of back order and frustration dealing with Verizon customer service i decided not to upgrade.

This year has been the same but even more frustrating. I tried going into stores, chat and phone call to get a trade in and upgrade for my 15 pro max to 17 pro max. Was told on a phone call that no store in the area had them but they could ship to a store in 24 hours and i could pick it up, this was wrong and the person on the phone actually did something to my account that added a monthly charge. I didnt even know this until i got a call back apologizing for the charge and asking my permission to remove the charge, no apology for the out right lie that the phone would be available in 24 hours .

i finally caved and did the upgrade and order online but this will take 3 weeks. I received a voice mail that said my trade in value would not be accepted and that i owed $1099.00. i called Verizon and after a long phone call they assured me that was a mistake and that i would get the full trade in value and to ignore the voice mail. Right after this phone call i received a text from Verizon saying "you will not receive the full trade in value for the iphone 17 pro max. thank you for your understanding" i was super confused by this and tried to ask again but in chat this time. after a long wait i started talking to an agent in chant just to have them ghost me.

i talked to the AT&T down the street from me and they have the 17 pro max in hand. so here is my questions.

should i blame apple for the hold up and just switch to Samsung?

or should i partly blame apple but mostly blame Verizon for the terrible customer service that is to blame for most of my frustration? i have 5 lines through Verizon and wonder how hard changing all to AT&T will be, but all phones are paid off.

From what I've seen lurking at the competitions' websites every so often, all the large carriers run very similar promotions and they all have similar fine print with them. Some people intentionally switch carriers every few years to take advantage of "new customer" offers. However, from lurking at the other guys' forums - Blue Logo Place has now sunsetted their forums, but Pink Logo Place still has theirs - "promo not working" and "bill is messed up" are common problems elsewhere too. CS is outsourced with all of the "Big 3". Also, not every carrier is going to be awesome in the same location, so I'd at least do the free trials they offer (your iPhone 15 is dual eSIM capable and should be unlocked, so ought not to be a problem). I've read my share of threads here from people who jumped ship elsewhere only to find that Verizon doesn't work as well as their old company, but now they've got a 3 year contract with Verizon...

As for the iPhone order problems, have you checked with Apple directly? I wouldn't be surprised if they are willing to do a similar offer, or maybe they have some other deal which is more appealing. I'm wondering if perhaps you are on a legacy service plan, and therefore not eligible for promotions. If that's the case, would be better to see if you can finance the iPhone 17 through Apple if you want to keep your older service plan.
