The last few days have been rough!
I initially placed an order for a iPhone 17 Pro Max on 10/11. It showed it as a Backorder with a ship date of 10/24. I figured if I could find it in-store, that I'd just cancel and go pick it up from a store. Whether it be via Verizon or an Apple Store.
Lo & behold! I found an Apple Store with the exact device configuration I wanted. So I canceled the placed order and made the order through Apple on 10/13
The pickup was scheduled for 10/14, but I couldn't get around to the store, until earlier today. I arrive, trade-in in hand. QR Code at the ready.
The store rep scanned the code and went to retrieve the device. Brought it out to me, my name boldly imprinted on the device box. She scanned a bar code and informed me that something with Verizon was not allowing the process to continue. I could clearly see on her device, a Verizon screen with a spinning loading circle.
She tried multiple times to scan the box barcode. But the only option given to her, was to cancel the order. Which we ended up doing.
While I was upset that I didn't walk out with the phone. I was more upset at the inconvenience of it all.
The device not being in-stock at most stores. The fact that I took a break from work, to drive 65 miles one-way. To have the product brought out and placed right in my face. Only to be told that my carrier wasn't allowing the purchase to complete. Was the most disappointing.
