Not that I know of. The only thing you could look at would be banner settings and disable them, but I'm not sure that will help.
I can do slow motion on my VMS4100. 'Skip back' or 'rewind' to just before where want to go slow motion, press 'play' and then 'pause'.
Then press 'fast forward' to go into slow motion. Press 'exit' to remove the dark overlay.
