Why can't I receive text messages on my WIFI hotspot?

Question

I have always been able to receive text messages from others on my WIFI hotspot (Orbic), but not now.  Some of my accounts with financial institutions have the phone number associated with this device, and now I am unable to receive confirmation codes from them.  What's going on?
