Recover deleted messages

Question

I’ve looked online and followed tutorials on how to retrieve deleted voicemails. However, when I go into my iPhone 16 Pro Max phone app and select the voicemail icon, the videos say that there should be a deleted messages at the bottom and to open that and select any messages that I want to reinstate. There is nothing except the statement “No Voicemails”.

I do not believe I selected any option that would permanently delete a message.

When I searched elsewhere on the internet, it said not all carriers support the "deleted messages" feature.  If you are talking about the traditional *86 voicemails and not visual voicemail, as far as I know, if you delete a voicemail from the *86 inbox, it's completely gone.  If you have an iCloud backup of your phone, possible it'll be in there, but then your current data is going to be overwritten if you restore your phone from a backup.

I did see a post in these forums last year where a CSR said they might be able to retrieve deleted voicemails if you only just deleted them (less than 24 hours ago), but I don't know if anyone at Verizon can actually do so.  If you have any social media, try contacting Verizon via one of their social media channels to ask about it as that appears to be the best avenue for the time being.  These forums are still being worked on in the background, which is why the CSRs haven't been using them lately.
