Today I called in to apply the 10% Loyalty Discount that was offered in an email and text message I received. When I called Verizon I spoke with a gal, whose name I did not write down. I told her I wanted to apply the 10% Loyalty Discount and she put me on hold telling me she would apply the discount. She then sent me a link to review and confirm the application of the discount. On the page were all the costs fees for my line and near the bottom I could see the applied discount. I hit the "Confirm" button and it took me to page detailing the "Verizon Family Plus" perk. I thought to myself "I never requested that or signed up for it." So, I hit the back button and went back to review the confirmation page and, sure enough, the representative had ADDED a $10/month Verizon Family Plus perk to my plan WITHOUT MY CONSENT. I immediately confronted her about this and told her to transfer me to her supervisor. She TWICE came back on the line trying to "fix" her "mistake" rather than transferring me to her supervisor. I then told her not to come back on the line without transferring me. She then transferred me to her supervisor, July. July told me that the representative "made a mistake," that she, July, would ensure it was removed. She said, and I am paraphrasing here, "this is why we send you the confirmation link." As if someone who calls for a discount is looking to see if the professional on the other end is surreptitiously adding services they never asked for. I am now considering forwarding this experience to the Attorney General of MT to see if they want to look into this.
