Will the whole house DVR still be available after the switch to IPTV?

I received the letter stating that My current Verizon cable box, and my cablecards will no longer work after the switch to IPTV. One agent told me I could only get Fios internet with Youtube for TV. Another said I could still get the whole house DVR system. Which answer is correct?

Fios TV remains available through Fios TV 3.0, utilizing Fios TV One or Fios TV+ hardware. This system supports a Multi-Room DVR experience, typically using a cloud-based service and "Stream" boxes to sync content across multiple TVs.

YouTube TV is also offered as a simplified IPTV alternative. It is often recommended because it runs on most smart devices

Fios isn't available where I live, but I'd heard about Verizon moving away from traditional cable TV some time ago elsewhere. All the traditional cable TV boxes will then be obsoleted. Considering that Fios TV packages are still available, I would have to think all you need is a new set-top box in order to get service via the new technology. My suggestion is to call Fios tech support at 800-837-4966 so they can take a look at your account. Maybe you need to change your TV package to something current, if you are on a very old plan?

I did call that number, and they had no idea what I was talking about. They are still advertising the whole house DVR system, which is the older cable equipment, not IPTV. I am still using my old box and cablecards, but I don't know for how long. I do not want to switch to YouTube TV. My question: Will the Verizon cable DVR still be available after the switch?

The newest Set Top Boxes are IPTV based. The VMS4100ATV (Fios TV+) is a server plus a second box with the HDMI to your TV. The older STB, the VMS4100P2 (Fios TV One) will also do IPTV, but it connects directly to the TV via HDMI.

I have TiVo myself, and the older STB was included with my package. If I wanted to, I could activate the DVR function right now. So, yes, with either of these STBs, you should be able to get an Internet version of cable DVR TV, including when they shut off our CableCARDs.
