Transfer of Service with Device Promo Credits

Hi there,

I'm a former Verizon employee and have also been an active Verizon customer for the last 10 or so years and for that time have been on the same account with my family. I'm considering getting a separate account for myself and my spouse, but we currently have active device trade-in promo credits on our lines. My last trip to a corporate store, a rep told me that they have now changed the terms/conditions for a Transfer of Service, wherein now if you have device promo credits, they can transfer for over with you to your new account. He did stress that LOYALTY discounts and account-wide discounts, like military credits, do not transfer along with it.

I wanted to confirm this was the case from someone currently working at Verizon, since when I was there, it was constantly stressed that no device trade-in promos transfer between Verizon accounts, and that the promotion would fall off and the payments would continue at the full monthly price.

There's some conflicting information when I searched on the website about the topic, and I'm just a customer, so can't say for sure if your promo/contract will transfer fully. Because the CSRs aren't currently using these forums due to background work still in progress, your best bet is to contact Verizon via one of their social media channels if you have any social media. Otherwise, use the "contact us" link at the top of the forum page, or live chat via My Verizon.

[update] I did a little more digging around in the transfer of service FAQ, and this verbiage is in there:

Trade-in credits - If the line you’re transferring gets a monthly bill credit for a previous trade-in, that credit transfers with the line.

Note: If you send us a trade-in after you've transferred a line, we apply the trade-in credit to the original account (not to the account that received your transferred line).
