Missing Group Texts

I cannot receive certain texts in a group chat from certain people. I have had this problem for like 3 years and no one seems to know how to fix it. I am tired of calling customer support for hours or going into a Verizon office just to waste more time. My husband and I have the exact same phones that we got on the same day, and he does not have this issue. We can be in a group chat where I cannot see the message received, but he can. I have missed COUNTLESS important messages over these 3 years. This only started when I switched to Verizon. This is not an Apple/Samsung issue, this is a Verizon issue. I recently upgraded my phone and hoped that this problem would be fixed. It is not. If the only way to resolve this is to go back to another phone company, I will.

What kind of phone do you have? My guess is it's an RCS issue where RCS isn't configured on your account, or else there's a disconnect where RCS messages are being sent to the wrong carrier.

I have the newest galaxy; 26 Ultra, I think? I don't think it's an RCS issue. I've done all the toggling and restarting. Whatever issue is going on is very weird. For example, I have a work group chat and I cannot receive one of my coworker's messages in that chat. However, I can receive her messages in a different group chat, along with regular messages one-on-one. This is something that only started when I switched to Verizon.

I've read of texting issues occurring after either 1) switching carriers or 2) changing your device. With the problem having started 3 years ago when you ported into Verizon, usually the culprit is RCS not being configured properly where you have to manually activate RCS on the new phone. I remember reading about this problem more often a couple of years ago. If it's not something to do with RCS, then another possibility is Verizon needs to tweak something on their end to get your texts working. There was some kind of texting troubleshooting package tech support used to run, but I don't know if they still do that. The fact that you also changed your phone during the 3 year period makes me wonder if it's now a multilayered issue.

What sort of "toggling and restarting" have you done? Also, did you ever use an iPhone in the past? Going from iPhone to Android can be tricky because you have to deregister your number with iMessage and possibly some other Apple services so things don't get sent to your Android in iPhone format.

I haven't owned an iPhone, all Galaxies in the past. I've tried turning off RCS and then turning back on. To manually activate RCS, is that something I would be able to do on my own?

Do you know if your previous Samsung which you were using when you first started with Verizon ever displayed a "RCS waiting to activate" or "setting up" message? If RCS never got set up on the older phone, then it's been sitting in limbo for the whole 3 years and your current S26U inherited the problem. Although I'd have to think you'd get some kind of message about "waiting to activate" or "setting up" on the S26U too if that's the case. I found instructions on things to try, but don't want to be sending you down a rabbit hole if it's not an RCS issue.

What texting app are you using? I'd read Samsung Messages stopped supporting RCS a year or maybe 2 ago, but haven't been keeping up with that as I use Google Messages on my Samsung.

I never had any RCS waiting message. It's been on and active for the last 3 years, on both phones. I also thought it was possibly a texting app issue, so I tried a few different ones. I'm currently using Google Messages.

@SynthpopAddict I've, unfortunately, spend many hours on the phone with Verizon support. None of them seemed to know what to do. :( I think I'm going to see if they can reset my RCS configuration or my network connection. I can reset my network myself, but there is a warning that there's a chance I won't be able to reconnect, so I'd rather have someone from Verizon do it.

A network reset should not keep your phone from reconnecting to Verizon's network. I have done that a few times with my Samsung and it's always been able to get back on the network again afterwards. A factory reset on the other hand, erases everything off the phone except what it came with when it was built, which can be problematic because it will erase the eSIM if you have one.

If nobody at Verizon ever put in a ticket or escalated it to level 2 tech support for your texting issue, I'd lean on whomever you contact for them to do so. Also, if you have social media, I've read of people having better success contacting Verizon support through that means.
