Price Increase

Question

My Verizon Fios bill went up $10. I am on a fixed income and am disabled. This really hurts, and I'm thinking about switching to the T-Mobile $35/month plan. Is there anything I can do to prevent this increase? Also, I understand that Verizon provides new and free routers. I have had my current router for many years, and it is an older model. I wonder why they never offered me the newer version.

I loathe talking to Verizon on the phone. It's like buying from a used car dealer. My next-door neighbor uses T-Mobile 5G internet, and he has never had issues, so I assume I'll have good connections as well. Plus, the free Hulu and Paramount make it very tempting. Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it.

to ask about that.  As for the Pink Logo Place's plan, the reason why that's less expensive is because the technology used is completely different.  Fios is fully wired fiber optic internet where you will get the same data speed all the time and it's fast.  The other place uses "fixed wireless" internet, via a device which runs off the cell phone towers and is subject to speed fluctuations depending on amount of traffic on the towers.  If you don't spend much time online or are out in a rural area where satellite internet is the only other option, fixed wireless internet is a reasonable alternative.  However, in cities where the cell phone towers are always busy, you may or may not be happy with fixed wireless service because your internet could be slow or possibly cut in and out.
