Hello, I am from Nepal, and I'm not sure why it was locked. I simply reset my phone and changed my sim card, and it was automatically locked. Can you please unlock my phone? Is it safe to provide my IMEI number here?
Hi, sorry to hear your phone is locked. These forums are public, so it's not safe to give out your device IMEI. The iPhone XR is several years old and predates the current device unlocking policy. It could be possible the phone was locked when you bought it, as that's a very common problem with second hand phones.
If you were using the phone before without issues, but the phone locked upon doing a factory reset, then what happened was the phone was originally unlocked by having an app downloaded to it. A factory reset erases all data put onto the phone after it's left the factory, so if there was an unlock app installed sometime later, then it has been deleted and the carrier software kicks back in and locks the phone.
The current device unlocking policy states that only devices purchased through Verizon and paid off will unlock automatically. Unless you are the original owner of the phone and can provide the proof of purchase showing you bought the phone from Verizon, you're out of luck.
