has anyone else experienced a decline in the service area and/or just a general decrease in service in the last year? What used to be fine or even marginal now does not work at all. I'm considering a change for the first time in 16 years.
Every network has its weak spots, and if a lot of new people have moved into your neighborhood recently, there's more traffic on the towers. Never mind that most everyone has a cell phone now, many modern smartphones being able to run 2 or more phone numbers, and it's not just phones which want to connect to wireless networks anymore. You may also be experiencing deprioritization based upon your service plan or being prepaid.
If you have been on the same plan for a very long time, could be that your account needs to be reprovisioned by Verizon so your phone knows to use all the currently available spectrum for which your service plan is eligible.
