Droid 2 Main Screen Moving On Its Own

Suddenly yesterday my Droid 2 screen started moving on it's own. It shifts between screens, opens apps, sends email to random addresses, dials random numbers. This morning while it was sitting on my counter, it sent a friend request to a random person and added them on facebook!

 

Sometimes the touchscreen locks and won't let me unlock it or answer calls or press anything.

 

I have tried:

 

1. Removing the cover/protective case

2. Removing and reinserting the battery

3. Leaving it off for hours and then turning it on

4. Wiping the screen down

 

Many outside forums list the same problem, but none of them have any solutions. Any suggestions?

isltd82, I understand you have attempted majority of the beginning trouble shooting steps to resolve your issue and you are continuing to have the same problem.  I was able to locate this as an issue reported to our technical support team for your model phone. This issue may be due to an application installed on your phone. One application that can cause this issue is the Antivirus Free application (droidSecurity, Inc). If you have other applications that you have downloaded on your phone and do not use on your device, I also recommend removing them from your device.

 

Listed below are the steps to uninstall applications. Once you have uninstalled all of the applications you are not using, please power cycle your device off and on. If you continue to have issues with your phone, we will need to speak with you and perform additional trouble shooting. 

 

 

 

Applications included with the Android Operating System may not have an uninstall option. From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located at the bottom of the display). Touch Settings. Touch Applications. Touch Manage applications. Touch an application. Touch Uninstall. Touch OK. Touch OK.
