Sometimes domestic text and other times M2M, why?

I was considering going to a lower priced plan so I was looking over my text message usage to see if I can drop down a tier.

I noticed that the same number being text/picture messaged is sometimes shown as "domestic text" and other times "M2M". This IS a Verizon number and its not just happening to one, but to multiple Verizon numbers I text.

I don't know if this is just a coincidence but when its shown as M2M it tends to be in the evening, and when its shown as domestic it tends to be in the day.

Does whether or not it gets charged as one thing or the other depend on the time of day of the usage?

Texting does not matter if it's night, weekends, or peak times; that only applies to voice minutes. Check carefully, mine shows BOTH Domestic and M2M if it's M2M, and only Domestic if it's non-Verizon.

The same phone number shows up as domestic and other times as M2M.

Use this tool to check the number(s) in question. If they come up as IN NETWORK, then it will count as M2M, regardless of what your online usage shows.

Are you using Mobile IM to text? Mobile IM is NOT M2M, so if you are texting through that, then it will be domestic.

I appreciate your suggestions and trying to be helpful but as I said in my initial post, it IS a verizon number. There are a couple actually, one number is showing up on different ocasion as stricly domestic and then m2m. I know this is a verizon number. One of them has even been a line on my family plan.

I guess the only comfort I can take is if it shows up incorrectly I can always print it out and go into verizon to get it changed. Although, that would be very tim consuming.

Please keep in mind that messages sent/received to/from any Verizon Wireless number are always M2M regardless of how the number is displayed on your bill, and if your text message package includes Unlimited M2M you will not be billed for M2M messages. Please note that our $5.00 message package does not include M2M feature and each message counts towards the 250 message allowance (including M2M messages). You can change your text message package online if you login to your My Verizon account or we can change it for you if you dial *611 on your mobile phone to contact our Customer Service department.
