Notification ring tone

My notification ringtone keeps going off ... but I don't have any text messages or emails.  What else could be causing this to go off?  Also, is there a way to set different notification ringtones for different actions (i.e. 1 sound for text messages, a different sound for emails etc.)?

You have to open the different apps and check the settings option under menu to change the notification tones for that app.

 

email, gtalk, messages, calendar, gmail are all ones that I know you can customize the tone.
