Design-or bug?

First of all, let me say how much I appreciate the knowledgeable folks on this forum and how much I've learned while lurking around. Secondly, I've got the GB update and have been very pleased; no issues with apps, contacts, upside down maps or the like.

That said, I've experienced something I've not seen commented on. When I power off the Droid X, choosing "Power Off" after pushing the power button, the phone will turn off, but then turn itself back on after ten minutes or so. If I "Power Off" a second time, it remains off. I know that other options are available after the update, but this has happened each time I've shut it down.

Anyone else, or is this normal behavior? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your feedback. In a suggestion to thehudd, please try not plugging the device into a charger and pull the battery. After a full minute, re insert and power on the device. Afterward, repeat the process of powering off your device completely to prevent it from making a data connection that can revive the device if any form data is attempting to access your device. By the way the device is starting up much quicker than the second time you attempted to power off the device, seems like it went into a sleep type mode where the data connection was truly not disabled as compared the second time in powering off the device.

I have seen that when I had device plugged into pc usb when powered off, do you by chance have device plugged into pc when this happened?

Mine rebootedcon its own when I put it in the car dock. But anytime I power it off, it stays off.

No, not plugged in. Just sitting there on a table, all by its lonesome self :smileyhappy:

I have also had this issue. I had it with Froyo as well. So I'm thinking it isn't a GB specific issue. So far I have not found a solution or reason for it.

Gingerbread added a choice, "Sleep" which, as with a computer, puts it into suspended animation. This selection will return you to your homescreen, but there is no phone, no incoming data. Are you sure you're not tapping on this?
