I keep updating my contacts on the Verizon contact back-up site but my Gmail contacts (which are not updated) keep over-riding my corrections in my Droid 2 & Verizon back-up assistant. Please help. How do I disconnect the syncing from Gmail?
Menu - settings - accounts, tap your google account and uncheck the sync gmail box.

Will I still get Gmail on my phone & still be able to sync my Gmail calendar with my phone?
I'm sorry, I was half asleep. I meant uncheck the sync contacts box.
You don't need to uncheck the sync gmail box.
Unchecking the contacts box will still let you get your calendar and gmail.
