Samsung Intensity 2 Duplicate Messages

It started as just a few random people, but now basically every text i get, from every service (including twitter and other online sources) comes in AT LEAST twice, if not 3-5 times.  

 

the Intensity is already pretty slow as it is, and this just makes everything so much slower, because all operations must be put on pause for at least 15 seconds while the duplicate message is received.

 

Only sometimes does the message say "Duplicate" at the top as well - sometimes it's just the same text sent again, again, and again!

 

Any ideas? I've legitimately gone through 4 phones since November and I'm about to switch to AT&T if Verizon doesn't get their stuff together.

Somewhere on these boards it was discovered that changing your phone number solved the multiple text problem. Why? How? No one seems to know why some get (or send) multiple texts but it DOES happen.

Changing phones didn't work, even changing phone models didn't work (although that seemed to solve it for my daughter - she was sending two or three texts each time). Changing phone number did end the problem for at least one person that I am aware of.

That may not be something you want to do - perhaps have them remove texting from your account and then add it back in, then do a *228 option 1 to reprogram your phone?
