Transferring PIcs and music

So far I love my Droid Charge. My only complaint is I am having a LOT of trouble transferring pics and music from my computer to the phone. I had the 1st Droid and it was very easy. I am tried dropping and dragging thru Vcast media and just dragging from computer. It says it is transferring, takes literally hours and none of the pics or songs get transferred.

You may also transfer your pictures and music to your phone without using VCast Media Manager. There are two options. The first is to remove the SD Card and insert into a SD Card reader. Locate the device on your PC and drop and drag your files. You may also connect the phone to your PC using the USB Cable. Drag the window shade to the bottom of the screen> From the home screen, touch and hold the window shade (located at the top of the screen)> Touch Connect USB Storage. Once connected, locate the device on your PC and drag and drop the files of your choice.

Just tried again. Stupid phone was plugged in for 1/2 hr and finally got error 0x80070079. Is anyone else having problems transferring media or is it just this phone? If I can't get my music and pics on it, I'll take it back for something else.

The initial setup of the USB connection seems a bit overly complex.

I THINK that when you connect the first time, two things are supposed to happen:

1. You will see a screen with a little green android symbol with a USB plug in his raised left hand. It has a touch box labeled "Connect USB storage". When you tap that, it will should show an orange popup warning you that some apps will stop, and you can touch OK.

2. Your computer should notice the USB device. After a while, you will probably be asked on the computer whether you want to install drivers to help communicate with the Charge. You can say yes, and it should go ahead. I THINK this step should probably be completed before answering the first step. However I am now thinking that all it does is install the v cast media manager which I would prefer that it not do. Not sure whether anything useful gets done.

Anyway step 2 above should only happen on the first connection.

My experience is that I did not get step 2 at all at first on my desktop. My computer thought it had an invalid device, etc. When talking with customer support, we decided I need to do a reset. After I did that, the steps above worked. And I can simply drag and drop (or copy) things onto the Charge very quickly.

One strange thing: My computer shows a CD drive, then a removable is added when I connect the charge. The CD drive has no disk (of course), but the removable disk works fine.

I will also report that my laptop did a full crash (blue screen, core dump) when I was installing the drivers as in step 2 above.

Overall, a bit flaky, but it's working fine now on both computers.

Once your PC recognizes the device (windows 7 will automatically-or run the isntall for the driver if the option pops up in the option for the drive)

you cna goto my computer-look for the device drive.. open it.. goto the Media folder.

In there I creted a Music folder and a Video Folder (leavign sounds for device sounds or ringtones I make).

Then you can open the new Music folder and drag and drop the music you want, or create sub folder to organize better. The phoen will scan media once you exit (may take time with al ot of music) and add it to your collections in music player and video player if you add video.
