droidx to droid2 global

I am looking at switching from the droidx to the droid2 global but have read lots of mixed reviews on the droid2 global. I really miss having a keyboard. So would you get a droid 2 all over again? What's the best thing about your phone and the worst except for the battery.

I have the droid 2. I have the extended battery in it and the battery life is just fine. I get a day out of it but am on my phone all the time. I do have some hardware issue and have to remove the battery to restart my phone. I went to it for the keyboard.

I have the Droid X. My son has the Droid 2 Global. I had a hard time deciding which phone I wanted, as I definitely prefer a real keyboard. I ended up getting the X because of the 8mp camera. I discovered SWYPE and I'm never looking back - I don't need the keyboard anymore. Have you tried using SWYPE? (maybe try it before you decide to switch).

At least wait for the Droid 3 or whatever the next qwerty android is. Why spend a 2 year upgrade (or $500+) on a sidegrade?

I agree with Jax. I have some upgrades coming next month,but am waiting to see what shakes out with the Bionic / X2 / D3. While there is always another phone just around the corner, now seems like possibly the worst time to buy (unless you were waiting on something in white).

I have both the Droid X and the Droid 2 (R2D2 model). Except for the smaller size and the pull-out key board, there really isn't that much difference between the two. Oh yes, one more difference, the Global does have a SIM cardm therefore global capabilites. So if you do a lot of travelling overseas, you might go with the global. I should also say that I usually don't use the pull-out keyboard because I love SWYPE. I use the virtual keyboard on both phones because of SWYPE.

I'm afraid the Bionic is dead before it was even born. Motorola dropped it. I haven't heard anything about a Droid3, but have heard talk about a Droid X2, but so far it's just talk. However some of the 4G phones, such as the Thunderbolt, sound good. However, we do not yet have 4G in our area, yet.

I don't know what you decided, but I bought this phone right around the time you wrote this, and I have had nothing but trouble with it. I still can't even get my contacts to sync. A friend said she had "a bad one" too, and opted for the HTC.

I would definitely NOT buy this phone given the choice again.

I got it for the "real" keyboard like many others, but what people have been saying here about Swype seems to be true. And the voice command software is super good, too, once you get the hang of it.

Thanks for all the replies. I did go ahead and get the droid 2 global and have had no issues with it what so ever. I took it on vacation with us and it worked fine on the cruise ship! I have had it for a couple of months now.

I had tried swype and it just didn't work well for me. I never could get the hang of swyping and walking at the same time but can use the keyboard on the droid 2 and walk with no problem lol.

The voice commands work well in the car especially with drive.safely program.
