My verizon continues to give me the wrong 4 digit code for the pin, in the backup assistant on my phone, I keep trying the same one, and it never works.
You don't need gackup assistant on droidx everything backups through google.I don't use it at all
i use backup assistant and have for years.
the security login for verizon isn't the same number for the phone. it's a number you selected at some point.
i do have two separate numbers.
it's true that google backs up almost immediately, which are then backed up by backup assistant for me.

My Verizon has nothing to do with Backup Assistance, you had to set the password when you ran the BA app the first time. I also agree that you do not need BA because it cause issues sometime and Google backs up your contacts automatically.
It is possible that the BA on that phone is trying to pull another number if it is a used or replacement device. Try to delete the app, re run it but you will most likely have to master reset the phone, and download BA again
Not everybody has contacts as google contacts, a lot of people have phone contacts for some reason or another (useally just didn't know)
i'm aware and i access ba thru myverizon to check on a few other things while checking ba.
that was the point about the 2nd number, which is different from myverizon 4 digit number that verizon is giving, which is probably the security access code to talk to cs.
get into my verizon/myservices/backup assistant and in the top right corner a button to view phone pin.
this is probably enough of a reason to keep ba up/running when you change phones and need that 4 digit code and need it to setup a phone without dealing with cs..

Havent used or even opened MyVerizon but just opened it and do not see BA password info showing anywhere.. that was the point about the 2nd number, which is different from myverizon 4 digit number that verizon is giving, which is probably the security access code to talk to cs. Most security paswords are last four of social... This is a default and I havent seen any way to chang this. get into my verizon/myservices/backup assistant and in the top right corner a button to view phone pin.Heres what MyVerizon shows on mine, I do not see a My Services, are you using My Verizon app on phone or on web page? this is probably enough of a reason to keep ba up/running when you change phones and need that 4 digit code and need it to setup a phone without dealing with cs..Even without BA running you do not need to deal with CS, all you have to do on device change is power old device off and then dial *228 and #1 on replacement device to activate device, then to get back personal info log int Google email and all contacts will ne restored. Logging into Market then allow you to restore your apps.
