how to tell if I am on wi-fi

I'm hooked up to my wireless router but how can I tell if this coming from my router or through my 3g?

In most cases when you are connected to wifi the 3g signal indicator in the status bar will be replaced with a wifi indicator. This means that the 3g radio is off, so you aren't using it.

So if the 3G is still showing, that means I'm not on Wi-Fi?

When I check the WiFi it says connected "Remembered". So that is not a way of making sure i'm connected?

To truly check, should I turn on Airplane mode? Shouldn't that work?

Now I know that I never got hooked up to the router, as my 3G never went away. And I never got that wireless icon. :smileysad:
