Deleting voice mail messages

Is there a way I can delete voice mail messages without having to go into voice mail and listen to it first before deleting. Currently, I can delete the notification but that does not delete the message, it is still out there when I go back into voice mail and start listening to them.

I used to be able to do this with my old phone before I got a smart phone.

You could subscribe to Visual Voicemail for $2.99 per month. This gives you a lot of different options with voicemail, including erasing a message without listening to it.

But you can just delete a voicemail message without playing it through to its entirity by pressing 7 in the middle of the message. Be sure to press * (twice) to end the call, or it may just end up being marked for deletion and not deleted.

I use youmail and I can erase from computer. It sends to phone plus computer and I can listen from both and erase. You can set up special messages for individuals if you want, it's cool and it is free. It turns off Verizons voice mail so you can check on PC and not get charged minutes by calling into VZW Voicemail. Youmail.com

I have tried to delete an 'old msg' and it will not delete. The system does not recognize that I am pushing 7 or any number for that matter. I cannot get to the recent voicemails now either.

Try clearing the cache, that usually will solve your issue

Dollynys, I replied to your other message. If this is the same issue, and you are having a problem deleting a fax message, just press 77 at the beginning of the message.
