Change Voice-Mail Hot-Key to Dial a Specific Number Instead of *86

The Voice-Mail Hot-Key appears to be locked-down to dial *86.

Verizon provides a way to forward calls made to *86 to a Google Voice number. That would seem to be OK, but ...

When Verizon forwards a call, the originating phone number is changed from my mobile number to a Verizon number, so Google Voice doesn't recognize the call as coming from my mobile phone. This means that Google Voice sees it is an outside call coming in. I cannot go to Google Voice-Mail from my mobile without ringing ALL of the phones tied to my Google number. If Google voice could recognize the call as coming from my mobile phone, it wouldn't do that.

If I could change the Voice-Mail Hot-Key to dial my Google Voice number, directly, instead of calling *86 and then being forwarded to my Google Voice number, it would FIX this problem.

Can I change the Voice-Mail HotKey to dial a number OTHER THAN *86?

Tank: Try this...

Settings>Call Settings>Voicemail Settings. I was able to customize the number that the phone dials for VM. I use Google Voicemail as my service.

Wouldnt just be easier to setup a contact in phone listing for Google Voice and then set one or the launchers links to call that number when pressed.

Thank you for responding. Yes, ignoring the "Voice-Mail" button by creating a contact for Voicemail will work. I've already done that as a work-around. However, it doesn't answer my specific question: Can the *86 tied to the "Voice-Mail" button be changed? If it can, I haven't figured out how to do it. I thought maybe someone else has.

It would be easier (and less annoying) if the "Voice-Mail" button that is stuck on my Droid actually called my voicemail and not Verizon, which changes the caller ID of the originating call and thereby causes all my phones to ring.

That function is hard programed so you can not see change this function without voiding warranty. And even then unless you have programming history to figure out the code to be modified I cant see it being possible.

I stand corrected, that option wasnt in 2.1 and I never thought to look again since update.... Thanks for catching me on that one...Thats looks like just what they was looking for.
