Poor Reception and Signal

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that update a few days ago, and there has been no difference in the reception/signal strength.

I contacted HTC this morning 6/9/11, and asked about my weak signal/poor service with my HTC Incredible 2 and was told that they would report my problem to their software development team, but she also said that they have NO reports or trouble issues listed with the Incredible 2 for weak or poor signal, so basically HTC has no idea that the problem is occuring. I ask that anyone who has a problem with their phone signal or fluctuating meter to contact HTC directly so the Incredible 2 development team can be aware of this. You can contact HTC directly at 1-866-449-8358, this way they can actually be aware of the problem that is occuring with the phone!

Likewise here with my Dinc2. I have had it for about 4 days and have dropped more calls than I ever did in 2 years with a BB 8530. This is a killer phone, but with weak signal strength, it's pretty useless. Regardless of bars, which I usually only have none or maybe 1, my signal is only 90-100dBm. I spend more time in 1X than 3G and that is killing an already short battery life. I really like this phone and would love to keep it, but I cannot if this continues. I have read many forums with owners complaining of the same problem. Can't wait to see if Gingerbread update will fix this because my 14 day replacement period with Verizon will be up and I will have no choice but to keep it.

I know it can be frustrating having signal issues with your device. You mentioned you already dial *228 and selected option 2. Exactly how long has this issue been occurring? What city and state are you located in? Please let me know so I can help since this is not a commonly reported issue with your device.

I too have bad reception & signal. I'm on my third Inc2!! First one had signal/reception issue so they exchanged it.Second one still had issue but also had speaker problems. Exchange again. Should have left it alone after that but love the phone so much I decided to give it one more chance! Third Inc2, still has reception/signal issue, however, I have never dropped a call or missed a call. No data issue as well. When I "awake" phone, it will have all the bars lit up, then they all go away. Does that very often at random times. I DID report this to someone at VW customer support, so how far it will go, who knows?? I have never had any reception issue where I live before. I also compared it to 3 other phones in my household and none of them have this issue. IPhone having the best signal!! Hopefully software update will get this fixed!! Well after they finish taking care of the allmighty Charge & Thunderbolt!! Very disappointed in this phone and of course after all that exchanging, my 14 days are up!!

This issue has been going on since I purchased the phone. I am in Richmond, VA. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Tell me how to mark it "unsolved" and I will. I don't know how. And I certainly didn't mark it solved. These VZW employees say they will PM me to help me w/ the reception/signal issue, and not a single one of them has! It is so frustrating. Verizon clearly does not care about this issue. My reception/signal is still an issue. I am looking to buy a new phone, assuming I can get someone to buy my Dinc2.

I'm in the same boat post GB install. Had two calls that I know of that didn't even make it to the phone to ring but got a voicemail alert for two voice messages. :smileysad: It's a great phone otherwise. Only other complaint I would have is that the speaker volume could be louder. Still curious if a network extender helps any as far as the signal problem. If anybody is using one can you please chime in.. Thanks

Like the rest of you, the software update did not seem to have any impact on the reception/signal issues on the DINC2. Does anyone know if there is a separate "fix" in the works for this problem? This phone is great at everything except being a phone! I'd love to keep it if I knew it would appropriately soon. But I can only wait so long. I continue to have calls that don't come through on my phone, and that is extremely frustrating.

I don't think any software update will cure the problem. It seems to be a hardware problem due to poor design of the antenna. I'm on my second one and it's exactly the same as the first one. Sound is garbled, dropped calls and 3G dropping out are all the norm with this phone. All Verizon offers is the same lame suggestions: make sure the back cover is on (who uses a phone without a cover?), *228, remove the battery, etc. I left AT&T where I had great reception and crystal clear call quality because I wanted to try this phone. Now I'm stuck for the next two years using a device that sounds like I'm talking through a tin can, reboots itself randomly and every few days forgets some of the settings or ringtones.

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm not sure if I should keep this phone or go back to a Motorola. I just got mine on July 6th. Love the phone, hate the reception.

So in reading on dBm signal strength. -60dBm is pretty much a perfect signal. Anything above -87dBM (-60 to -87 dBm) your Android device should show a full 4 bars of service. As I compare walk around here and compare signals of my original Droid Incredible and my NEW Droid Incredible 2 this is how it stands:

Original Droid Incredible

Best Case Inside is -88 dBm

Worst Case -90

Best Case Ouside is -80 dBm

Droid Incredible 2

Best Case Inside -96dBm

Worst Case -105 dBm!!!

Best Case Outside 90dBm

I know my location might play into the numbers some but I think the comparison between the two phones tells a lot.

I have been experiencing almost all of the reception issues and dropped calls that the others have here.
And about the network extender, I bought one for $100 when I had a Blackberry, and it helped that phone. But not this Droid2. And I was told that *228 doesn't help this phone.
I don't know what helps this phone. The other features are fine, but as a phone...it's really bad.

I don't think *228 does anything to any phone. How is upgrading the list of roaming towers supposed to cure phone problems? I think it's just something Verizon reps are told to do to have something to appease complaining callers. They could just as well tell us to rub a rabbit's foot for all the good *228 will do.

I just bought my Incredible 2 yesterday, after trying to decide between an iphone and the Incredible 2. The Verizon salesman convinced me there wasn't a better phone on the market than the Incredible 2, so I went with it. I LOVE the phone, but it is of no use to me due to the fact that the reception and signal are so poor. I went from a Blackberry, which had 3-4 bars from my home to the Incredible 2, which has ZERO to one bar. If I move at all while conversing on the phone, the conversation is lost to the listener. Contacted Verizon, and they gave me the same answers as everyone here has already listed. Contacted HTC customer service, as listed by someone earlier in this thread, and they had no solutions for me either. Nothing has changed. Luckily, I have 13 more days to return my phone!!! I sure wish someone would solve the problem, however, and I would be able to keep it...

Yeah Verizon acts like they have never heard it before. I to have called verizon about this issue, they came out and checked my area and said I was in a great signal area. I told them this is a known issue. They just want to give me a replacement Inc2 but I know that,that won't fix the issue. I've had dropped calls, and I go to make a phone call and it won't call at all then I wait for a min, or so and try again and it works standing in the same spot. Also had calls go to voice mail, with no missed call. So this is getting frustrating because the samsung fascinate has this issue as well. So I've switched to my fascinate for now see how it goes for a week.Verizon is no help, I hate that they act like they have never heard of that issue.

I love this device, but NOT as a phone! It's terrible as a phone.

As I said in a previous post, I bought a network extender from Verizon for $100 because I could not get reception in my house with my Blackberry. Then I got this Incredible 2 (what a misnomer if there ever was one) and the network extender doesn't seem to help.

But it may be something you might want to try since it might have something to do with my area (Los Angeles).

We can only hope that someone at Verizon can help us. It's so frustrating.

I got my phone 8 days ago. We did the update today when I took it in to Verizon. Still no changes. Still no signal. I am torn as to return the phone.

I received my Incredible 2 yesterday and am experiencing the exact same issue as everyone here. Called HTC and they claim to have never heard of this issue. That's **bleep**. Called Verizon and they same the same. **bleep** again. No amount of *228 or Reboots or Battery remove./replace or factory reset will fix this issue. I think we are dealing with a flaw in the antenna design or a radio issue. The antenna is actually in the battery cover. Remove the cover and you will get an "x" above the signal strength meter.

I am going to attempt to swap out the phone with another one, but from what I've been reading here as well as other forums it's not going to fix the problem.

One thing I do find interesting is that EVERYONE is not complaining about this issue. Does that mean only a batch of units are affected or maybe no one else knows any better to complain? There was a post earlier in this threat that listed the number for HTC. I'd call them. Ask them if anyone else has called about this. They'll probably say no. Tell them you want your call to be recorded in their trouble database. My feeling is that they have not heard of it because the customer service rep or tech you talk to is not passing along the info.

Anyway, it's really frustrating to have this "Incredible" phone and not be able to use it as a phone. Hey but it play Angry Birds awesome!

I contacted HTC and they wanted me to send them some information, which I did. Went into a Verizon store and talked to a manager and he told me he's heard all of this many times before. So Verizon can't say they aren't familiar about these problems. *228 and pulling the battery are just busy tasks they have us do to make us think they have a solution; they don't and I don't think they ever will. It's a design flaw in the antenna. Apple redesigned the iPhone 4 antenna and improved their reception problem greatly. Will HTC? I guess not since the first Incredible had these problems too.

All I know is that 14 days is not enough time to fully evaluate a phone. I'm stuck now with Verizon and this phone. For all their boasts on television about having the best coverage, they don't in my area. The company I switched from did and now I can't go back to them.

I COMPLETELY AGREE with you on the 14 day return period. It's just another one of thpse "WE GOTCHA" scenarios since it specifically states you only have 14 days. :smileymad: I just find it odd that there has been a remedy ticket to diagnose whether it's a network issue or phone since last Thursday. They told me someone would call me back within 24 hrs. I heard nothing back. I called Sunday and I was told "A remedy ticket takes anywhere from 1-7 days to resolve". Hmmm It can take the experts up to 7 days to try and resolve the problem but for the customer you only have 14 days to test out your device and find problems with the phone? Doesn't seem fair to me. I understand they are working other issues besides mine but I also have a full time job and family and not a full time phone tester.

I have had the incredible2 for a week now. The 1st thing that happened is a few dropped calls while using a bluetooth headset, by the sounds of the posts Im lucky to make any calls. Ive noticed a few other glitches here and there but Im aware that all of the androids have issues. I went through a bunch of problems with my 1st one a year ago. Verizon support is a joke, *228 etc. I like this phone but if it is going to be a headache, then I really dont want to keep it. I agree that 14 days is not enough time to test your phone, 30 would be better! If the problem is a design flaw then no update is gonna fix it!!!

I can't understand how, if what you say really works, why NO ONE at Verizon knew about this!!

Somebody said they understood all Android phones had some kind of problems. To me that's not acceptable. Not that I expect every phone release to be without problems, but to just accept that if I get an Android phone I'm going to have to put up with certain problems just doesn't sit well with me. Maybe I got spoiled coming from the other network where I had two consecutive iPhones and not a single moment's problem with either of them. Having had two iPhones I simply wanted to try something different and was coaxed to this carrier because my company offers a 20% discount off my monthly bill if I signed up with them. With the kind of headaches I've had I would much rather pay the 20% and go back to having a trouble free phone and a carrier I could hear the other party I'm talking to. Oh well, live and learn. Two years will pass and I'm sure these same problems will still be around, but I'll have the option to go elsewhere as will everybody here who are experiencing problems with Android phones.

Considering that this issue was first brought up on this forum in early June and has still not been addressed is unexcusable. I can't even imagine the amount of people that have called in and reported issues. And yet there was a response from VZW support that they are looking into the situation and to be patient. Do you think that puts up a flag on every Incredible 2 owners account. Obviously not because in an earlier conversation with VZW over the phone the support tech said they have had no problems or complaints for signal problems. And with all the hype and advertisement in recent weeks for this phone maybe VZW knows something we don't. Discounting the phone to $149 and advertising might be a good way to clear the shelves from a problemed phone.

I see the Fascinate owners on these forums are getting to swap their faulty Samsung phones for Droid Charges! Can we switch out our defective units with HTC Thunderbolts? I'd definately consider that option if made available to me. If the Fascinate owners have options why can't we? Chime in.

I bought my Incredible 2 a few weeks before the upgrade and immediately noticed the poor signal in my house. I'd typically get no bars, but would occasionally see 1 or 2. Signal strength was always between -98 / -101dBm. I tried the *228 trick several times but I always got the same message saying something to the effect that my request could not be completed. Tonight, after upgrading last week, I sat here staring at the same signal and empty bars. So I dialed *228 and the procees was completed...which restarted my phone. I am now looking at a constant signal of between -86/-88 dBm and 3 bars with the occasional drop to 2 bars.

When I first switched to this phone from the OG Droid, I was thrilled at the speed, smooth UI, and overall feel of the phone. However, the euphoria quickly faded into melancholia. The horrible reception manifested itself quite clearly the first time I attempted to load a web page, which just so happened to be right outside the VZW store where I purchased the device. It took at least twice as long as my Droid would have taken to load the web page, which was yahoo.com for anyone interested.

"Whatever," I thought. People always told me phones came from the factory "dumbed down," so I did the *228 option 2. Nothing. Still horrid reception, awful loading times, and voicemails with no missed calls. It's incredible (pun intended) that such a piece of technology can have such an awful antenna problem. Seriously, I kid you not, if I try to run the Speedtest.net app, it can't find the closest server, and on the rare occasions that it does find the server, my download speeds are in the 0.08 to 0.15 range. How can Verizon and HTC allow us customers who pay such a ridiculously high price for overrated service to be happy with this device? I've called customer service and got nowhere. I've called HTC support and been told that it's not a known issue. I'm reluctant to go into the VZW store to complain because I know they'll just give me the runaround. Perhaps it's time we hold a ritual for all of our Inc2's. Throw them off of a bridge into a river. At least there, in those murky depths, they won't be such a colossal disappointment.

The only problem with throwing them in the river is that Verizon and HTC will get away with it!:-))

Did the Incredible 1 suffer from the same reception problems?

Based on what everyone is saying, it seems to be some sort of design flaw. I have tried the *228 update dozens of times, and it has had not improved my reception/signal whatsoever. Has anyone else (other than the lone poster) had any reception improvement from a *228 update?? I'm curious to know.

@ so8k I've read on other forums of reception complaints by Incredible 1 owners. The two things they were hoping to see improved with the Incredible 2 was better battery life and better reception. The battery is better, but reception appears to be worse.

And no, I've done the *228 option 1 and two on both phones I've had as well as my wife's phone and it doesn't make a bit of difference. This phone is just terrible. It forgets settings and when email is turned on sometimes it pulls it and notifies you, sometimes it pulls it and doesn't notify you and other times it simply leaves it on the server all day. And no, pulling the battery, factory reseting the phone, etc and all the other useless juvenile suggestions VZ has offered has helped in the least bit.

Addictor, I'm considering selling my phones on eBay, buying out my Verizon contract and heading for the door. I had a number of different phones on another carrier, before coming to Verizon, with zero problems and excellent reception (and no we never had to do the *228 thing) and I rue the day I was talked into to coming over here.

I too have terrible reception and my home is within sight of the Verizon tower. I replaced my Samsung Fascinate with the Incredible 2 because of all the problems the Fascinate inherited with the Froyo 2.2.1 update.

I like the Incredible 2 but it is not pleasant to have the signal drop on this phone. The best reception I have ever gotten is -97. It is usually between - 101 and -104, if it is receiving a signal at all.

Worst of all since the Incredible 2 was my replacement phone for the Fascinate during my 14 day trial period I am stuck with it, unless Verizon will admit there is a problem with the reception capability of this phone, whether it be hardware or software is inconsequential. It needs to be addressed by Verizon and all customers given a fair deal.

It seems I traded one bad phone for another. So far I am unimpressed with smart phones.

And, yes I have done the *228, resets both soft and hard to no avail!!!

I wanted to give it a few days before I posted again...

I now have a DECENT signal most places I go. Places I had NO or Minimal signal before. I would say that my signal issue is fixed at this point. What did I do? Well like some here I got my phone swapped out. For me though it worked.

My first phone was ordered through Verizon Customer Service. Got it in the mail and had the reception problems. Terrible. Unusable. After reading all the posts on this and talking to HTC and Verizon tech support I felt that this was an issue with ALL Inc 2 phones and swapping it out would not help. The Phone rep did offer to send me a new one after I send mine in but I didn't want to wait that long. I do USE my phone and can't be without it for a long period of time. I asked if I could take it to a local store for t-shooting and possible replacement (not feeling a replacement would help) to save me time. She asked what store and then she called them to make sure they had stock. She came back on the line and said it would be no problem to take it in and to talk to "Joe". I felt that if we were going to play the swap out game I wanted it to be done locally. I call the store and talked to another rep since "Joe" was busy. I told him about the issues I've been having and ask if he'd had anyone he's sold an Inc2 to if they had reception issues. He said no and I do feel he was being honest.

As I was driving to the Verizon I glanced at my phone signal once in a while. No bars or maybe 1 or 2. Mostly no bars. I even passed within several hundred feet of a known Verizon tower and there were NO BARS. I was thinking though that as soon as I got to the store it would go full bars on me. You know, I'm sure they have a cell repeater in all the store right?? Got to have a good signal before the customer walks out the door. hehe. Well I got to the store and looked at the signal. 1 bar. I think the -db was like 102 or something. Can't remember.

Went inside and found the rep I talked to on the phone. Went over the problem again as well as talked to the Manager about it. They both said they have not seen or heard of this issue there. When I showed them my phone it was 3 bars but then dropped to no bars. I asked if there was another Inc 2 there that we could compare. Turns out that most reps there were using the Inc 2. We checked one and it was at 3 bars and was pretty steady.

We agreed to swap out my phone with another one. I factory reset mine while he activated the new one. Well kiddies I will say that my problem went away. After I left there I watched the signal strength. It did bounce from 1 to 3 and sometimes 4 bars which it had never ever done. Never 4 bars. Then I passed that Verizon tower I had FULL bars. I have signal now at my work and at home and didn't before.

So in MY case a new phone worked... a new phone from the store, not online. Not sure if that makes a difference. My feeling is that maybe there is a bad batch of phones??

I suggest that to all those that are experiencing this issue to go into the store, show them your signal issue, ask to see another Inc2 there to compare and get your phone swapped out. Maybe some of you have done this already but again in my case it worked and I have an Inc2 with a decent signal. I do feel that I should be getting better signal compared to friends that have other phones but I will take what I can get.

I now have a usable phone. Sorry for the long winded post!!

Wow. I'm glad that solved your problem and after reading through the forum a replacement hasn't worked out for most. I am suprised at all the recent posts claiming no reception problems at all. Did you get a brand new replacement phone or certified like new? If it was new, how long did you have your original Incredible 2? I'm glad you have good customer service in your area. I walked into a VZW store yesterday. All the phones inside the store had full 3G service showing on the phones. I found it odd there wasn't one Incredible 2 on display. I showed the service tech my phone with 1 BAR and he said that was odd. He didn't offer no help besides saying maybe an app is causing the disturbance. I decided I was not going to get anywhere with him so I left it at that. He didn't not offer to look at the phone. To add salt to the wound he added "Good luck with that" on the way out. I hate going to the store and have the feeling of being guilty of something because that's the way they make you feel. Any how I have had great support over the phone and am being sent a certified like new replacement although I am unhappy about that after only having the original for 30 days or so that I paid for full retail. I also have a remedy ticket out to check the signal in my area which is entering its 8th day now.

I ordered my phone on the 14th and got it on the 18th. Saw the reception issues, read the forums, talked to HTC/Verizon Customer Service on the 19th. That same day I went to the store and got a new phone. I know for a fact the one I got from the store was new. I am figuring, unless there is a way to tell, that the one I got online was new as well.

I would suggest either going back to the same store and talk to a different rep OR go to another store in your city. Another thing you can do is call Customer Service and have them call the store for you. If your phone was acting like my first one was, which it sounds like it was, then you should at least get them to swap the phone. I think you said though that you were waiting on another replacement. If that one is an issue also then get it swapped out at a store. No acceptations.

No, he told me that because he was a salesman, he could not in good conscience sell this particular phone. He had complained about it to his supervisor, who in turn apparently surprised him the following day with his new phone. He was outside his 14 day window. I was just inside my 14 day window awhile back when I first complained and was told that the GB update would fix a lot of issues, I waited another 2 weeks, and when the GB update came out and still didn't fix my issue, I was again told that HTC was sent information on the problem and that their techs were still looking at the problem with no ETA on a fix. I was again told that I could try swapping out our phones with refurbished ones, but that was not the answer I was looking for. So theres the reason why I think that it was unfair, and justly so.

Verizon tech support just called and felt the need to explain that it is a network issue and not a phone issue. This service tech went on to explain that at my actual address there were terrain issues that interfered with the signal. Something that was not explained by a different service technician yesterday. And that it was indeed my home causing the problem in which it would then not be their (Verizon's) problem. She sent me information on a network extender in which I could buy out of pocket or other option would be tobuy a 3rd party network extender. NO THANK YOU! I am not paying an additional $250 after I already paid retail for the phone. I left the conversation at that. The other phone on the account is an LG cosmos and has 3-4 bars service inside the residence. It has been an insulting experience and I feel for those with the same problem. I will just probably hook up the original Incredible even though the haptic feedback works when it wants. At least I know I won't miss calls or have calls that cut off. Maybe in the mean time there will be a fix that doesn't come at the expense of us the consumer. My contract is up in December in which it may be time to explore other alternatives. Good luck to those of you experiencing this same problem.

losvaldez55,it is an issue with the phone and they know it. There have been far too many complaints to both Verizon and HTC. There have also been too many tests in the same location with non HTC phones that get good reception and the Incredible 2, which doesn't and those tests have been shared with Verizon. I've had Verizon managers and techs both admit to me there is a problem. I see a class action lawsuit in the future. You know, people hate attorneys and the whole lawsuit thing, but when companies treat their customers like this and cover up known problems it drives nice people to resort to suing them.

So I took the phone in to a corporate store today after work to see what would happen, and just as I suspected, I was given the runaround. The lady who "helped" me listened to everything I had to say about the phone, which was the horrible reception, dropped calls, getting voicemails with no missed calls, dropping to 1X while driving down the highway, and every other Verizon phone I've compared to mine having better reception. She looked at the phone, went into Settings, and said "Hmm. That's interesting. Could you wait a few moments while I check this out?"

After about 15 minutes, she comes back to me and says this:

"It seems like there is a pending firmware update that keeps trying to download onto your phone and is causing your reception problems. We'll push it onto your device and that should clear up any issues you're having."

After 15 more minutes, she hands me back my phone and says:

"Okay. We've pushed the firmware update to your phone, and it looks like it's holding a signal at a strong 3 bars. 90% of these kinds of reception problems are caused by the firmware interferences, so if you continue to have problems I recommend a hard reset."

Of course, as everyone can guess, this did NOT fix my problem, and has only resulted in even more anger and frustration. I pay too much money monthly to receive this kind of treatment. I paid too much money for a phone that is supposed to be "incredible," but the onlly incredible thing about it is how much it sucks. Still sitting pretty at -105 dBm.

Mike S thanks for working with his. While my reception on my Inc 2 was okay, but not excellent, I did go through your list.

Culprit 1 : my phone was already set in cdma mode. Your check allowed me to confirm.

Culprit 2: I did not remove batter door recently but I've checked in the past. It is secure and when door is removed the signal drops significantly.

Culprit 3: I've been running 2.3 gingerbread for several weeks and found no problems. However whatever the software update that I got from VZ yesterday (7-26) may have made my signal strength worse by around 5-10 dbm while sitting on the same table in my home. I now also have seen wild variation from 4 bars to zero while sitting in the same spot, while our iphones stay steady on 3-4 bars. I also have seen my phone go to 1x mode which I have not seen prior.

Is there a way to backout of the update I got yesterday?

I also want to thank you for your interest in the reception problems relating to the HTC Incredible 2. I have done the things you requested and here is my report:

1. Make sure the phone is in CDMA only mode -- My phone is and has been since the day I bought it. Signal strength is bad. Don't know if it would be worse with it were set to dual mode (CDMA/GSM) as I haven't tried it.

2. Remove the back cover, which contains the antenna, and report signal changes -- I did this, before removing cover the reading was -100. After removing cover reading was -120 and then dropped, as I watched it, to 0 (zero).

3. Apply the lastest update pushed by Verizon -- This I have not done, as members have been reporting problems brought on by the new update. I don't want any more problems, so I will wait awhile and monitor evaluations of the benefit of the new update. Frankly, I am very skittish of updates as recent ones seem to have done more harm than good; I changed to Incredible 2 from Samsung Fascinate because the Froyo update to it literally turned it into a non phone.

Coming from the fascinate issues to the incredible 2 problems is very frustrating. I am experiencing the bad signal issues also so I'll add the following:

1. Make sure the phone is in CDMA only mode -- yes - this was changed within the first few days of getting the device.

2. Remove the back cover, which contains the antenna, and report signal changes -- I went from having 1 bar to nothing once this was done. I found this out when trying to active the phone on the first day I go it. It had me puzzled at first.

3. Apply the lastest update pushed by Verizon -- I will not be doing this until I know that there are no issues with an update - I learned the hard way with the fascinate and now I will be waiting before doing any updates.

2. Remove the back cover, which contains the antenna, and report signal changes -- Went from 1 bar, to no bars with an x on top. Under settings -> about phone -> Network -> signal strength = Reads a flat 0. States nobile network type: Unknown, Service State: Out of Service. Not Roaming.

3. Apply the lastest update pushed by Verizon -- I have gotten both the GB update the first day it came out, and the small email syncing update a few days ago. The GB update didn't improve anything, in fact, I noticed that it more often than not, I have less signal than I did before. No change with small sync update.

Tried this on both my wife and I's phone, same conclusion as mine.

I seriously need to have this problem fixed soon, we are getting extremely frustrated, but we are being extremely patient because we like the phone, except when we have to use it as a phone. Is there anyway to get a different/upgraded phone for my wife and I, or at least for my wife because she is the one at home all the time with the kids where signal is lucky to exist on this phone?

I just sent my Inc2 back and got the droid 3. Ive only had it 2 days so Im learning it! It seems ok but I already see a few things that dont exactly work perfect! I sent the inc2 before my WHOLE 14 days!

I might be missing it, but that seems to be a little more about knowing that you have received a private message and doesn't appear to tell you how to send one.

So, two ways I know!

To send, click on the envelope at the top of the page, as shown in that article, and choose Compose New Message, and enter the name of the person to send to, or, easier, click on the user name on a post. On the page that displays, on the right under Contact, there is a link "Send this user a private message"

Well folks, it looks like I've reached the end of the road.

I received my replacement phone in the mail today, which is a "certified like new" device, and I'm sorry to report that the recpetion is equally, if not more awful than my last Inc2. It's almost as if Verizon is playing a sick game with me. Quite honestly I'm infuriated with the treatment I have received. I will be returning this device for the third and final time. If they don't allow me to get into a phone that actually works as it is intended to work, I'm headed for the door.

According to Mike, he sent Verizon lots of product issue forms to tell them about thiese problems. So I think I'll wait until I hear if there's any solution, otherwise I will return my phone and maybe go elsewhere.

Verizon keeps telling us they are working on the problem, and to wait. They ask us to do this or that, and we do it, and we report our findings... and still we are told to wait with no response to the issue. The reality is, in my opinion, they are doing nothing to bring this matter to a resolution. Continuing to wait isn't going to help anything. I have waited since JUNE 8 for an appropriate response from Verizon that never arrived. It is now August, and Verizon still has not appropriately addressed this issue. You can continue to wait, but I'm afraid that wait will be indefinite.

Good day, Community I know how frustrating it is to not be able to receive calls with your phone. Just a quick update. We have reported your findings/experiences to HTC in regards to the signal strength. missed calls. They did receive a couple of returned devices in order for them to try to duplicate what many of you are dealing with. Please check what the signal strength is when you are experiencing the signal issues, Settings> about phone> network. The antenna is built on the battery door cover. Even if there is a slight discontinuity between the battery door and the phone, then it is possible that it will affect the signal.

Have you taken the back cover of recently or changed the back cover out? Because the battery cover is the antena and if the lead inside are bent or misaligned or not there do to a non oem replacment = very poor reception.

I just revived the incredible2 as a replacement for my fascinate that was truly awful in almost every way. I live in the Denver metro area and the reception on the incredible is outstanding. I'm using the extended battery and cover and the signal strength is rock solid and full bars most all the time. My incredible came with android 2.3.3 installed and everything works flawlessly. Best of luck to those who are having problems. This device kills the fascinate hands down. Thank you Verizon for making things right for us who got duped into the galaxy S trap.

Poor Poor signal, dropped calls and people have a very hard time hearing without being garbled. Hope HTC or Verizon will figure out a fix or replace these phones!!! Seems like a lot of people with the same problem!! :smileymad:

Sounds like alot of Droid Inc 2 users with all the same problem!!!!!!!!!!!! Love this phone!!! But said when your old clamshell phone had better reception then this phone. Hope HTC or Verizon is looking into this problem. There is something wrong with this phone!!!

I find it sad that so many are having problems with this phone. I was having the same problem with my fascinate but now with the inc2 reception is perfect! I drive a commercial truck for a living and travel all over the Denver metro area every day with never losing single or dropping calls. Better then any of the other Verizon phones we have in the house. What Android version are you running? Mine cameo from Verizon with 2.3.3 and its flawless! One of the best phones I've owned, and I've owned more then a few. HTC HD2 with T-Mobile, Samsung fascinate with Verizon, Droid X on Verizon, and the nexu S with AT@T. The only thing I wish this phone had was the super amoled screen, it would be perfect then!

So whatever happened to all of these reported problems and Verizon offering to look into them for us? I never heard of any posted resolution or official response to the signal issue of which I still have might I add.

It is almost like the fascinate issues all over again and I wish I had not gone with this phone at this point. So any word on how to correct the signal issues Verizon?

I've waited almost 2 months since I posted about this problem and have yet to hear an answer. It continues to be a constant annoyance and headache to make/receive calls or use data services withought wifi. Even more frustrating is the constant posts about *228 and network extenders as a solution to this problem.

I still have data connectivity issues, the data service is constantly cutting in and out and barely any service to stream any music and stuff. I have to use wifi most of the time get decent data service to listen to pandora which defeats have a smartphone with mobile data service. Rule the air, more like just hot air! I would have thought NYC would have great data service and connectivitiy.

Regertting getting this phone nowadays, should have stuck with the fascinate simce I had better data service until the ota that killed it completely but supposedly it has been resolved. Wonder whether this will be the same problem with 4g lte.

I have been waiting and wondering, too. I think Verizon and HTC can just wait it out because they keep coming out with new and improved phones and don't care about the previous models. Just my feelings.

And on top of that, now my emails have stopped coming into the DI2 for the third time! Sigh.

Same issue with my since2. I find it strange that even as of 10/22/2011 Verizon still denies this being a known issue.

I don't ever think we are going to get an answer to this problem. I will not ever purchase another HTC device. It might not entirely be a VZW problem but it shouldn't come at the expense of customers either.

John, yes the issue started as soon as I got the phone in June. Yes it happens whenever I go indoors. Yes I've dialed *228 numerous times. Yes I've gone over all phone settings with level 2 tech support. Yes I've replaced the phone twice and no improvement. I asked Verizon customer service to record this issue as a formal complaint so if any of you other folks with the same issue call Verizon and they state they have no knowledge of this being a known issue with the Incredible 2, they are lying. John don't bother responding unless you have something constructive to add. If I hear another Verizon associate tell me to dial *228 I'm gonna scream.

I am on my second Incredible 2 in 4 days. Still no signal (-103-105). I NEED to be able to get calls since I work ON CALL!

I think I am ready to ask for my money back and go back to my Eris.
