I have been a loyal customer of Verizon for about 10 years now, but I am increasingly unhappy with the service. Last year, as part of our New Every Two upgrade (which has changed A LOT since it started), my husband and I got the exact same phone, a Samsung Rogue. Both are starting to give us random issues:
My phone, right now, chooses when it will recognize pictures or music I have on the microSD card or downloaded to the phone. Often, this means that my wallpaper will suddenly change from a picture I have taken to a pre-loaded pic. Plus, just today, it stopped allowing me to make any outgoing calls or text messages. I am also not able to delete any messages that come in, although I am very thankful I can still receive both calls and texts.
My husband's phone will randomly turn itself off. I have seen it do this, when he puts it on the couch and leaves it there for a long while. It doesn't just go to standby, but actually makes the music of shutting itself off. There is no warning beep about the battery dying (which it does when appropriate). At first, I thought it was just shutting off because it was in his pocket, but after seeing him not touch it for a period of time and it still shut off, I cannot begin to imagine what is happening.
Now for the twist: my phone's screen does have a large crack in it, but has had it for almost the full year (my 3yo dropped it, I think). It's water detection sticker has also changed colors. The girl I spoke with at a Verizon store refused to help me at all after she looked at the water detection sticker. She even told me that it could just be the humidity that changed it, but there is little they can do. My problem is that my husband's sticker is just fine, and his phone is acting wierd too.
I have even tried his battery in my phone and it works a lot better, allowing me to call out, text, and delete messages, but then it randomly turns off on me. Does this honestly sound like a battery issue? We are about another year from upgrading, and it will be difficult if we have to purchase new phones early simply because of battery issues. Besides, mine sounds more like a programming problem than a battery problem, and my husband's phone doesn't have a reason to be doing this.
Verizon seems to be the best in coverage areas, but we are seriously thinking of changing carriers because of the problems we have had with these phones from the absolute beginning. Please help us!
ETA: Part of our problem with Verizon right now is the insurance, so we aren't even sure if the phones are covered, even though we have been paying for the insurance.
