Advanced Task Killer on my DX

Is the ATK really as bad as some say?

Seems to me, it saves battery.

When I picked up my DX, the rep installed it and told me to press on the icon to kill apps running in the back ground.

I did for the first couple weeks,,,,,,,,,,but yesterday I didn't, at all, all day. Ran the battery almost all the way down. I've never seen the battery icon look yellow/orange.

But I keep reading threads ( many of them) that someone will say that for one reason or another the person that is having the problem needs to uninstall ATK.

I still don't really understand why those people say to get rid of the app.

I guess this should have been posted in the Droid X forum.

Is there a way to move it?

if it seems to work for you then go with it. google will tell you otherwise. i have found task killers to be innefective. what i will say is this....if you run in to issues with your X then the first troubleshoot i would suggest would be to uninstall it and see if that fixes the issue. but as long as it's running fine and you seem to think ATK is helping the battery, then leave it be.

Actually I think ATK got a raw deal, so many has blamed the app for a number of problem because the app is usually misconfigured, I have used it without issues and I have also notice a improvement of my battery life... I have learned that as long as you exclude all system diles from auto closing you should ecperiance any issues.

It sound like you have done my old rule, try first and then draw you own conclusion. my thought is if you are happy with the use of the app stay with it because I believe ATK is a good thing if used cirrectly...

Some say that it causes more problems than it cures. Some say that it is always on and uses more battery than it saves. I use it with no problems. As far as I'm concerned it's worth having.

I had ATK installed by a VW tech in response to my poor battery life, He told me to click and kill every time I used the phone. After my battery issues improved, I decided to try not clicking and killing. Battery life did not decrease nor did it increase. In fact, I saw no difference in anything. I still have ATK installed, but set it to manual kill and use it only when an app seems to be continuously running.
