Try that you might have to copy and paste it.
Yes, finally Gingerbread Update for Smasung Galaxy S, Vibrant and Fascinate is happening. Last week Samsung Romania confirmed that Gingerbread should arrived March 20th but some issue in Kies which will deliver the Update make the delay. Official Samsung Galaxy S page just post a message to it’s user asking to Update Kies with the latest version Released V 2.0.0.11032_12. To answer a question they also mentioned that: “You Need this Update to be able to Get the 2.3.2 Update to your Samsung Galaxy S, Vibrant, Facinate. The 2.2.1 Froyo Update not For everyone Only for Italy, Romania, Germany. 2.3.2 will be Worldwide but carriers will be Delayed.”
Thanks jared88, already figured it out, thanks for your help though.
Very doubtful. And Mini Kies doesn't even work with the Fascinate afaik. And I wouldn't believe some no name blog either.
yup no problem. Im sure its to good to be true.
Here is the sad thing. When we get the update, it will probably make our phones worse, not better and all the people begging for the new update will then be begging to back. LOL. I like my Facinate, works just fine, is faster than my son's droid 2., nice big screen.
really, it can only make it better? lie the lack of screen response people are seeing from the froyo roms? is that better? how about worse battery life that's pretty widespread? is that better?

@gsp10If you think there won't be angry threads after the update, you should take a look at the droid section of this community. Every single phone model that went through an update had threads "update bricked my phone and I get the old version back? " or something like that.
Both samsung and verizon have had way more than enough time to do the update properly! They should definitely be able to get it right the first time. But in the real world chances are there will be some mistakes. If the mistakes are not major ones then there should not be a problem.

Are you forgetting the update that Sprint pulled a while back that caused problems? There's no way for them to predict for every with the unlimited number of app combinations available along with data that may be corrupt, etc.
My dad has the x my mom and sister have the incredible no problems with them at all my phone always freezes and crap and I have eclair so {please keep your posts courteous} you clearly dont know how the other phones work because you never probably got to experience them
I have used many froyo equipped phones, including my fascinate. and I can tell you, it's not all peaches and cream. you seam to not realize that not all people have problems with 2.1, actually, most don't. however, of the people that have gone to 2.2 on these phones, almost everybody has had at least an issue or two. you clearly don't know how all this works, since you are so closed minded, and can't even install 2.2 on your phone for yourself.
everyone thinks 2.2 will be this magic fix all, but that's so far from the truth, it amazes me the blind ignorance of all these people demanding froyo NOW.

my wife has a d2 with 2.2, my fasc has 2.1
niether locks up, freezes, ect
i reboot daily though
she reboots monthly
2.2 is ok, but i have ZERO issues with 2.1
my firm beleif is it how you use the phone that causes issues, much like a pc. the more apps you put on, the more websites you go to, ect ect ect ect the more chance you have to affect something, regular rebooting for heavy use just works
The operating system and software developed by the manufacturer as well as the carrier should be rock solid. When apps come out they are supposed to work properly on a given operating system. When there is a problem there is no reason why it cannot be fixed to work properly and in a timely manner. If an app is causing problems to where the cell does not operate as designed by the manufacturer then the app should be removed until such time that the operating system and the app can live together in harmony.
Minor bugs are to be expected. If there is a major bug like the GPS doesn't work or you can't receive incoming calls and text messages or the Wi-Fi works intermittently then these options designed in the software by the manufacturer absolutely have to be fixed immediately and correctly! When we try to operate a major function of the cell and it is a crap shoot whether or not it will work is unacceptable! Demanding that the cell operates as advertised is not whining it is defending ourselves and getting what the manufacturer promised it would do! That isn't hard to understand is it?

I love what you wrote and I feel you are 100% correct and if and when they give it this forum will be filled with ahate and law suit talk all over again
gsp10 wrote:Wow when I just downloaded a app and when I first opened it it said I'm running old firmware and it closed itself out. This is bull **bleep** verizon!!!
you should try downloading AN app, instead of a app. I highly doubt it descriminated against your "firmware", it more likely said you needed FROYO. what apps are requiring froyo?
Vlingo in car actually does require android 2.2 or higher....
have you tried looking for a comparable app that doesn't ?
maryl wrote: Vlingo in car actually does require android 2.2 or higher....
iot works on 2.1
from thier website
Vlingo is available free of charge for Android 2.1, and above. Note Vlingo InCar beta is optimized for Android 2.2 devices. Users worldwide can find and download Vlingo on device from the featured section of Android Market.
now it requires 2.2 for headset support though
April 1st and no Froyo......just saying......shall we just say end of ??? now?
Verizon is taking down posts. view the comments at #froyogate. Six months from the first promissed update to froyo and still no Froyo but I gues we should thank verizon for the EA28 update that broke the phones USB connectivity
I don't know if the gps problem is due to hardware, I don't believe it is because the problem would be more wide spread. My gps works fine, let me define what fine means to me.
In my home town I leave gps off until needed, it locks within 1 minute always and less than 30 seconds about half the time. Once locked it stays locked the duration of the trip. Very accurate, has never taken me to wrong location yet.
I just returned from a business trip in Nashville, TN. I do not know the town so this was for me the ultimate test. I arrived to rain and full cloud cover and it took 1:45 seconds to lock from inside cab, after that it was perfect to hotel. From hotel to where I conducted my business it was taking a full minute to lock. Evenings going out to eat it started to lock under a minute, again it found every restaurant I wanted with no problem.
I have my settings on Google location services and GPS standalone on, I do not use Verizon location services. I also have from the the market GPS Test app. and if I feel it is taking longer to lock than it should I turn on this app. and it locks on faster than the Navigation software does, don't know why, just that it does. I hope you find some of this info helpful.
I just installed and used the GPS test app and left it on for an hour. My Fascinate saw 2 satellites and used 0. Thanks for the tips, but it didn't work for me.
Sorry, one possible solution before replacing phone with new one, turn off phone and remove battery for about 10 minutes, reinstall battery turn back on, if that fails I think you need new phone.

Last night I tested mine with GPS test and was out in garage and it showed 11 satellites and was using 8 so I was impressed
gsp10 wrote:I'll Just stick with my tom tom at least it always works and really fast to unlike my fascinate
Just use your darn phone the GPS works great on it and quit complaining
gsp10 wrote:But sandystorm I have a perfectly good gps why use my phone lol I mostly use my phone for communication and internet but it sucks that we dont have flash yet
It's just why use your GPS when I'm saying the phone works great, plus I was just joking about complaining as I agree VZW is giving us the screws. Now if you want flash I will flash you if you are old enough?
gsp10 wrote:I Honestly dont know what to say to that but.. When and where? Ohhh wait I can't find you because the gps doesn't work on my phone for gsp
LMAO good one gsp but my GPS also works great and is dead on. I wonder if there are a lot of bad phones out there that people dont realize because other things might be good
