HTC Thunderbolt Sim Card?

I have heard that the HTC Thunderbolt will require a SIM card (the first and only verizon phone to have this). If I upgrade to this phone when it comes out, will they send a sim card with it? Since I'm currently with verizon, I of course don't have one right now.

I can't imagine it *not* coming with a SIM card preloaded, or at least automatically attached to the order as an included accessory.

Actually, this is not true. As far as I know, ALL of Verizon's global phones(Droid 2 Global, Droid Pro, HTC Touch Pro 2, BB Bold?, etc) have had SIM cards. I believe that in all cases the SIM card was included with the phone. It was with the HTC TP2, at least.

He's right though. No other VzW phone *requires* a sim card: the phones you listed only use their sim cards when you are in a GSM country.

With that thinking, wouldn't it only "require" the sim card when it is in a 4G area and not when it is utilizing the Verizon CDMA network?

From what I've read, as part of VzW's system to allow "seamless" (I'll believe that when I see it) transitions from 4g connections back to 3g connections when you leave a 4g coverage area, the VzW 4G LTE sim also functions as a RUID card for the CDMA network and is required for CDMA service on LTE devices.

Just got my new thunderbolt in today and it DOES come with its own sim card.

Mine too. But if ur doing alternative upgrade tell them when u get it because u will need to get a new sim card at the store or through customer service / tech support.
Technically this is the first phone really everything running from the chip. Droid 2 global u I think can switch it off plus u can do an alternative upgrade after the fact without running to the store. Waiting for the phone to activate 4 hrs them telling me the phone was confused plus CUSTOMER SERVICE did wrong and I needed a new chip. Doough.
