Droid X update few issues.

Right after the latest update to 2.3.3 update I have had several issues come up.

The wifi hotspot feature is very slow to get going. The four menu buttons on the bottom of the screen for menu, home back and search no longer light up. It seems that once every few days I can no longer send text message and the internet access is gone until I reboot the phone and doesn't matter if I am connected to wifi or not. Some times is seems that the notification LED doesn't work.. This is off and on. Performance can be choppy at times and is it just me or did the signal strength get worse.. It seems like it keeps going from one bar to several (depending on where I am this can be 2 or all 4) .

I hope they release a hot patch soon..

I have the same choppy signal issue. Did not notice it this bad before GB upgrade.

There are many posts on these issues, and if you do a search, you'll find a fix for almost all of them.

The hotspot and internet lag sounds like an App issue. The hard buttons not lighting is a light sensor issue, most likely due to a case. The LED light is a huge known issue, and most likely can be fixed by going to Settings-- Apps-- Manage Apps-- and selecting the app(s) you use for texting, calling, email, etc and selecting "Clear Cache" or by just clearing the entire cache of the phone.

As for signal strength, dial *228 option 2.

As for the Hard Button lights.. I use a soft case that does not cover the front of the phone.. But just in case.. I took it off.. (and I do take it off regularly anyhow ) to no avail. The hot spot issue.. Well its a Verizon app.. I do not use a 3rd party app for this, I pay Verizon 20 bucks a month to use it.. It does work and does not really have any internet lag when it does... Just takes much longer to get going.

The as for the internet not working it corresponds to also not being able to send text messages. The app I use for browsing the internet is the stock browser on the phone... The choppness i see is not in the internet when its working.. but in the menu browsing and such.. and again.. its not constant.. just annoying.

I will take a look at clearing the cache for the txt, phone messages and all to see if that helps with the led issues.

ok weird enough.. i just started to play with my phone a bit.. but for the past serveral nights.. the hard buton lights didnt work.. I know noticed though when I was cleaning the screen (with the softcase on btw) the lights turned on.. with the screen active.. so then I turned off the lights .. so i guessed that they only turned on when the sensor saw that it was dark.. i turned off the lights .. they worked. I will play with them some more tonight and see if they are still working when its dark in the house..

I stay up most nights untill 1 am so I am constantly working in the dark.. would be nice to have the buttons always working.

I think you misuderstand the meaning about 3rd party app causing the issue, it was meant that another app can interfer with the function of another app when the app isnt supported. There is a number of apps that hasnt been updated to support GB just yet and if you did not update settings for updated OS you can run into issues, sometimes clearing cache works because it is removing all settings and the user can reconfig the app.

Well easy enough thing to try this weekend then is to have fun clearing my programs heh.. Shouldn't be too bad really.. But very few do I ever run actively at any given time.

The only time I have problems with an app is when I an using motoblurs version of gb. MOTOBLUR is the problem... not gingerbread.

I just upgraded to 2.3 and now anytime I listen to music and receive a text message the phone locks up and rebooted. Is there a software patch coming?

I'm still having problems with my Droid X after the the most current Gingerbread update. My Bluetooth in my car (factory installed) is not working anymore after the Gingerbread update. It was working great prior to the update and now it doesn't work.

Verizon Wireless customer service representative stated it was my car's Bluetooth was the problem and not the update..**bleep**!

Anyone else having the same problems with their Bluetooth, factory installed in car or portable?

I know how important it is to be able to utilize the hands-free capabilities on your device, especially when driving! I would like to suggest a few things that should ensure you are able to pair your Droid X with your car Bluetooth. First, ensure that your device is in Discoverable mode in the Bluetooth Settings. Then I would suggest Deleting and Reestablishing the Bluetooth Paired Connection on your vehicle. The instructions for this would come from the vehicle manufacturer, like your vehicle manual.

Ok I went without saying it but I cant hold it anymore... This is why I hard Reset before updates.... Issues are coming from settings and apps that was Froyo compatible that isn't GB compatible... A number of users have hard reset and resolved these issues reported...

It is easier to follow this pattern when updating OS than spending weeks blaming the update, the update isnt perfect but I wipe all the time before updating and dont notice the issues users are having.. Please give it a try and stop having Verizon replace device for a issue you can probably resolve yourself, others have went to store and had their issue resolved by the tech hard resetting device, save yourself the gas and headache...

Hard Reset... Also disable auto restore option..

Could you elaborate on what you mean by hard reset? Not everone on here is fluent in the tech speak. I for one am not! :smileywink:
