My LG Cosmos Touch is having screen problems. The whole touch screen portion will not work! I've tried pulling the battery a couple times and nothing. Its been like this for close to 2 days now. Any ideas how to fix this?
The battery pull was a great step to take. However, if it continues to not work we are limited with troubleshooting. Please PM me or click here for options to contact us so we can go over options to resolve the issue for you!
I too am having the same issue. I also tried replacing the battery with my son's identical phone battery. His continues to work, mine does not. I can make calls using the slide out keyboard, and I can receive calls although it doesn't ring or vibrate. The only way I know there is a call incoming is the lights on the buttons will light up.
So I guess I am just out of luck. Tried talking with a service rep from LG online. Says it is a hardware issue. Nothing to do except possibly follow some long procedure for returning for a manufactures warranty. Technology has me hooked, I can't be without my phone so more money to pay for a replacement. I would NOT recommend this phone.

Hi ABQGibson,
I am sorry to learn that your phone is not working properly. I would be frustrated if my phone didn't perform as expected. Please note that your phone includes a one year warranty and can be easily replaced with a Certified Like New Device within 12 months of purchase. For details on the Warranty Replacement process please visit the link below:
Warranty Certified Like-New Replacement Process
Before processing a warranty Replacement, please consider performing a factory reset, which may resolve the issues you are experiencing with your phone. Please note that performing a factory reset on your phone is very easy. For your convenience I have included instructions to perform a factory reset below:
Reset Default
>From the main screen, press Menu. >Touch Settings>Touch Phone Settings>Touch Security>Enter Lock Code ???? displays, enter the 4 digit lock code (default: last 4 digits of phone number).>Touch Reset Default>Reset Default - Preference Settings will be set to factory defaults.
>Your user data will not be erased. Press <OK> to continue displays, touch OK.
>Scroll to Revert, touch OK
You can also find the above instruction on page 108 of your LG Cosmos Touch User Guide.
Touch screen does not work. I can't really see or send any text messaging. I tried to calibrate but the touch function are not working properly help please!
Mine screen is not responsive at all. Is there any way to fix it without having to use the screen?
Does anyone know how to use the menu using the keyboard instead of the touch screen since mine is not working. I get to the settings screen by pressing the OK button and then the arrows, but I cannot select an option on the settings screen. I need to turn on the USB mass storage device option to get pics and such off my phone.
golowes48 Are you still having problems with the touchscreen on your Cosmos Touch?
If so, did you remove the battery as suggested in previous posts?
If you have done that, but are still unable to utilize the screen, you can PM me and I would be happy to look into your replacement options.
There really is no other way to access other functions of the Cosmos Touch other than the touch screen.
Mine, too! Touch screen doesn't work. Pulled the battery but still nothing. I cannot access anythjing using the touch screen rendering this phone useless. Now what?
Hello All, This seems to be a common problem for the LG Cosmos. Is there a known remedy for this problem or is it just an intrinsic defect that is not repairable? Thanks.
Thanks everyone for your responses.
BDBDB & Elmimorrison,
I know how important it is to have a working phone. Since the touchscreen is not working at all, that would be a hardware issue and the device would need to be replaced. You can either call in to customer service at 800-922-0204, visit a corporate store or send me a PM with your name & number.
I'm experiencing the same thing with my LG Cosmos Touch. The touch screen does not work any longer. Please help!
My Cosmos touch restarts itself all the time, freezes, when texting on touch screen it is really slow and is impossible to use, I tried updating it and it seems to have made things worse. I went to the store and they didn't do anything about it.
I also have a screen that no longer responds to touch. I've noticed a small spot in the center that looks like it has burned through (the image is fine, but there appears to be a hole in the touch sensor layer), which I suspect is the problem.
Of course, the warranty just expired..
My touch screen just went bad today!!!! I was noticing a bubbly liquid appearance under the touch screen layer, and then it didn't work all the sudden. I still about about 3 weeks until my warranty expires. It seems like this touch screen is a universal problem with this phone. Inexpensive quality touchscreens don't exist YET.
Thank you everyone for your responses. This is a hardware issue with the phone and no settings will resolve this. It seems several people are now having this issue and I can't address everyone that currently has this issue and may eventually have this issue. I would suggest having the phone replaced by either contacting technical support at 800-922-0204 or by visiting a corporate store.

I too, am still having issues with the touchscreen and Marquia, I know we conversed via pm, but you never replied to my last note, so I guess you wanting to help me is done? The ONLY suggestion I was given is to have the phone replaced. Replaced with a refurbished one. I'm not thrilled that Verizon is willing to replace these defective phones with factory refurbished & tested phones. Does it make any sense? Me receiving someone elses bad phone to replace my bad phone? NO. Doesn't make sense! No one wants that especially when they purchase a NEW phone. They should receive a new one as the replacement. There are so many issues with this phone, I'd like to think that Verizon would step up and do the right thing by pulling it from their shelves and or honoring a new replacement for us who have had the displeasure of owning this lemon phone.
Touch screen does not work and I see that this is a problem and there still selling this crappy phone! I need this replace! I am a truck driver and the support wanted me to go out to a pay phone in 18 degree weather and call them so that they could tell me there is nothing they can do! Verizon this is very poor customer service, for service that cost me 255. a month!!!!
Hello, I can make calls receive calls Ive turned off my phone took battery out and everything and I can't use my touch screen to see text or anything I really can't afford a new phone right now and I use Verizon is there a way to fix it so I can use my touch screen again? PLEASE HELP ASAP I will be calling Verizon today as well.
I've got the same issue with this phone and unfortunately I do not have insurance or protection plan and I was told I could not get insurance after 30 days of the purchase. What are my options to get this fixed? Did the factory reinstall work for anyone? What is going on with it it is in perfect condition.
My Cosmos Touch just started malfunctioning on Friday. I am probably just screwed since I do not have insurance or a protection plan either. Did you take your phone to Verizon? Did they try to help you at all? It's funny how they will give you a free phone to renew your contract - but then it's too bad for you when the phone doesn't even last the whole two years that they rope you in for. :smileysad: Spending the money to break my contract is looking more appealing than giving them more money for another lemon of a phone...
So my screen phone has now died on me today on such important day where i need my screen to work , I did all the following procedures on trying to get it to work again but still nothing. Along with that I do not have insurance so please I need help.
Thank you.
Hello, I am having the same problems with the touch screen. I too the battery out a couple of times.
What to do now?
I know that this was from six months ago, but my phone appears to be having the same issue that horak11and lorax42 reported. I went into a corporate store today, but was told that because of the bubbly liquid appearance I could not have the phone replaced even though it is still under warranty. The manager told me something about how your policies and procedures changed about eight months ago and that even though the water damage indicator does not show water damage (because there has not been any) he could not do anything. Next, I have also called technical support, but they recommended that I go into the corporate store in the first place.
So here is my question:
I am currently on my 4th LG Cosmos Touch since early December 2010. About every 6 months the same thing happens... screen freezes and will not respond to touch. I can use the slide out keyboard, but cannot use anything but the phone with that. I bought a new one early December 2010 and the 3 replacements have been refurbished. The last time, they tried to get me to take something non-touch screen, but that would cost me $35. I have a total of 3 phones and 1 hot spot through them, and mine is the only one with problems. I didn't want to pay the $35, so I can pay the deductible on the worthless insurance, but it is more than $35 and get yet another refurbished LG Cosmos.
What are my options? I used the 800 # above the last time, but they are the ones I had trouble with. I was going to renew my 2-year contract this December and add data with smart phones, but with this going on, I am being swayed to use Walmart month-to-month phones with phone card for $45 a month. I currently pay close to $200 for 3 phones and the 5 Gig hot spot.
I purchased a replacement screen, but before I try to figure out how to take the old one off and put new one on, I wanted to know what my options are?
Thanks,
Al Hildreth

Phone and screen were working fine 4 hours ago. Spontaneous corruption of screen image sometime this morning. Tried all of the suggestions, including re-setting the factory defaults using the step by step directions from Verizon tech support. Nothing changed, and the phone is sort of working (connection, voice, etc.), but the display problem renders it unusable. Nothing happened to the phone as it sat on my desk for 4 hours this morning. I believe that I have probably crossed the 1 year mark with this phone. So the manufacturer's warranty wouldn't apply, although from reading other posts here, it probably doesn't matter anyway. I have so little trust in Verizon (and the other wireless carriers) that I can only assume that Verizon either a) knew there was a problem at the outset, and continued to sell these phones or b) they deliberately created a flaw that would create a necessity for a new phone...thereby either making money from selling new hardware and/or getting customers on the phone or into a store to up-sell them; or at the least getting them to initiate a new contract in order to get a "free" phone. Hate to be so cynical, but with a multi-billion dollar corporation that has the vast resources of Verizon, how could this happen? Negligence and incompetence are possibilities, but the probability is higher that somewhere there is willful creation or exploitation of this problem. Hope I'm wrong; but I doubt it.
this phone is straight out awful. the amount of money they've made off of something that doesn't even work is ridiculous.
My phone is doing the same thing--the Cosmos NoTouch. This phone is clearly a lemon and should warrant a complete replacement.
My LG Cosmos was sitting on my desk. sent out a text as i was receiving a text, my screen locked and is no longer functioning. I need my texts.. how can i access them without my touch screen? Anyone on to help?
This is a terrible phone and I have had the same issue with the one I bought in store and now the replacement. Touch screen resets are hard to do when the touch screen does not work!
It's obvious that Verizon could care less about everyone's decision to buy a crappy phone that they know has about a year to 2 year lifespan. How else would they get you to buy into the smartphone craze?
What they fail to understand is that not everyone needs a smartphone. In other words not everyone needs Verizon. I have this same phone with all the same issues. The answer as to what's wrong however is clear to me unlike everyone else. It's time to leave Verizon. This will be my last phone with them & I can't wait.
See you soon Virgin. <Comment removed for profanity per the .>
