They say in the north April showers bring May flowers well April brings nothing new to the Fascinate as I knew to be expected.
If you chat with the folks at Samsung, you will find they maintain they are working closely with Verizon to update our Fascinates to Froyo 2.2. - Don't give up! (as his shattered dreams of Froyo rained down on him)

You say you've given up on the phone being upgraded, because you know it will not be, so you are getting a new phone. Or so you say
Why bother to complain about no upgrade, if you know it itsn't happening? Isn't the (mature) purpose of a complaint that it instigates change? Do you really have nothing better to do than complain about something that (you claim) won't be fixed?

I am just trying to stop people from expecting things that will not happen for this phone. They need to be told that Fascinate will never receive Froyo and myself don't care because I am waiting for new Revolution to come out. And as far as nothing better to do well look who commented to me YOU!
I will not complain or file suit because it is rediculous and you cant win just because sales reps told you that you would get Froyo or Gingerbread. This would get laughed out of court and the Judge would say go eat some Banana Bread Fools.
Seriously, you see yourself as some sort of prophet? Oy.
Well, April showers are bringing sprinklings of Gingerbread to Droid X owners. Seriously, if anyone still think Verizon is the holdup in getting Froyo on the Fascinate, get real. Moto and HTC have no trouble getting updates to their Verizon devices. It's Samsung. And, either they didn't want to push out updates to spur sales of new handsets, or they're just plain incompetent.

The problem is with the fascinate itself, it cant handle the new updates without problems so no there will be no Gingerbread or Fryo for the fascinate!
That's why my next smartphone will be a Moto droid of some type... just biding my time until my next upgrade date.....
To be honest, I don't have a clue who is responsible for the holdup. While It's true that Motorola and HTC have pushed out updates on Verizon, the one thing that IS different here is Bing. I am starting to believe that the contractual obligation that Verizon agreed to on the Fascinate/Continuum is more responsible for the delay.
Supposedly, we are supposed to be able to select our default search engine when Froyo is released. From my perspective, that could create delays for Fascinate users in one of two ways. First, I can see Verizon taking time to issue Froyo for a period of time to honor the duration of the contract. (Has the length of the exclusive contract ever been published?) Second, they may need additional time to code, program and test the lockdown of the device to Bing on Froyo until the contract expires. Either way, we wait.
All that being said, this is entirely conjecture on my part. Since Verizon and Samsung aren't talking, we get to fill in the blanks with our theories. Oh well...
PS: Before anyone jumps on me for saying I CAN use Google to search. I am well aware of that. The Voice Search app uses Google and I can add a Google icon for direct searches. But let's be clear: These are work-arounds that most of would prefer to avoid.

I'm with you on that Spurs21 just waiting for the Revolution or the Droid Bionic but just trying to calm people to give up on Froyo because it will not work properly on Fascinate thats why we dont have it and I like Verizon and dont blame them but I do blame Samsung and will not buy another Samsung product

aaah, but is working on the fascinate
nickjr wrote:Upgrading to Froyo did not allow me the option of selecting my preferred search engine, Bing still was the default choice w/o any of changing that. You have to d/l the google app and then use as a regular app
Thats why Froyo has not been released to the Fascinate because they cant make it work properly on the phone so it will never be released

Hey Sandy, both of these phones are i500 variants of the Galaxy S family. Take a look at this link...

I have nothing to rethink because there is a difference and thats why Froyo wont work on Fascinate
At the end of the day, unless you’re shopping for a new carrier as well as a new phone, the Mesmerize on US Cellular is by far their best Android phone, and there’s really no reason to switch to any other carrier if this phone piques your interest even by only a little. Throw out any Samsung horror stories and the fact that – on the brink of receiving Gingerbread – they have yet to deliver Froyo, and you still have one of the finest phones on the market, let alone the best on US Cellular.
And I personally believe you win even more if you’re already happy with US Cellular: their version of the Galaxy S really doesn’t smack you in the face with preinstalled software like the Fascinate does. Aside from their own-branded navigation, ringtones, contacts backup, and a help guide for new Android users, you’re getting as pure a Galaxy S phone that you can hope to get. And it doesn’t force you to use Bing.
