More Bluetooth Problems

In addition to not playing well with my car's Bluetooth system, I discovered today that my Charge will not recognize my Bluetooth headset (a Motorola H15). I'm wondering if I may have a handset-specific Blutooth radio problem rather than its being one with all Droid Charges.

Anyone else having similar problems?

Most Bluetooth cellular phones should have SOME functionality with the Hyundai Bluetooth system. However, due to differences in phone quality, service providers and Bluetooth chip programming, functionality may differ from one phone to another. Please contact Hyundai for information on which devices sync with your vehicle here .

I'm thinking our bluetooth issues with the Charge are possibly that it doesn't support very many bluetooth profiles. I pair many different bluetooth devices to hands free link car devices all the time and my Charge has been less compatible than any device I have had to date. If you look on the VZW site you'll see the Charge is bluetooth 3.0 and that's all it says. So try and find out what your bluetooth devices support by contacting the manufacturer. Please let us know what you find out. There are also two other posts about bluetooth you can reference on this forum.

I notice that TigerDirect has the Samsung auto bluetooth visor-mount speaker for less than $30, with a $20 rebate - making the net cost less than ten bucks. It's had excellent user reviews, and Samsung "guarantees" compatibility with the Charge.

Much as I hate to duplicate capabilities, I will probably just buy one of these puppies and put it into my car. The Charge is too awesome a phone to give up based on something like this.

Bluetooth on the Charge definitely has its issues.

I have noticed that the bluetooth starts getting erratic when you have more than 1 headset device paired with it. Mine started out ok when I had just my Plantronics 390 paired. It worked fine. After I paired my Motorola S10 headset, it worked fine for a few days. I then started having problems with the Mic on both sets. I would start a call, and it was like the Mic was muted on both sets. I could hear but the person on the other end could not hear me. I then went back and unpaired both sets and just paired the S10. Everything has been working fine with the S10 for a couple of weeks.

I tried it on my wife's Charge with her Plantronics 390 and a Jaybird JF3 set. Same issues

The problem is that Samsung does not implement the native Android bluetooth stack, but rather their own hackneyed custom bluetooth stack, which is missing several important profiles, such as the HID profile. Unfortunately, the only solution to this problem is to not buy Samsung phones, or tolerate their limitations.

I am also having Bluetooth issues with the Droid Charge. When I pair with my Ford SYNC v3.1 system

it claims to be paired, but playing music results in the music coming from the Charge external speaker instead

of my car stereo. Ironically, if you reboot the phone while paired with Ford SYNC the shut down sound effect

comes through the speakers loud and clear (and scares the hell out of you).

here's a suggestion that worked for me..... no problems after i did the latter of this post (cleared data for bluetooth share)....

"You can try deleting the bluetooth devices that are giving you problems and resyncing (i.e. re-pair) in the bluetooth settings (menu>settings>wireless & networks>bluetooth settings) or, go to menu>settings>applications>manage applications, select the all tab at the top of the screen (if you have it), scroll down and select bluetooth share, then clear data (you will probably have to resync after doing this as well). Also, if you installed any new applications around the time you started having this problem, go to the manage applications menu and select those, scroll down to where it shows the permissions to see if they may be interfering with your bluetooth connection."

Ditto. I have a Hyundai Sonata 2011. It will pair up OK but my contacts don't get transferred to the car and I can't answer a call by pressing the button in the car. Once I answer the call with the phone I can use the car mic and speakers. Does anyone else have the same problem?

I looked up a pdf called "SCH-i510 -Droid Charge- Bluetooth Car Kit Support for Verizon Wireless Subscribers". Of course it doesn't have Hyundai on there,but it doesn't have ANY 2011 cars on there. Is there a more up to date one?

I talked to the Hyundai dealer and they basically said "tough, we don't do Bluetooth upgrades". But I tend to agree that it is up to the phone manufacturers to be compatible, or backward compatible with even, the cars. I'm hoping for a software upgrade to my charge that will fix my problems.........

Having same problem with samsung charge not downloading contacts so thst 2011 Sonata can recognize names. Can dial by number but not name. No problems with my 3G iPhone. Very frustrating and ridiculous.

Have you tried to unpair and repair the Bluetooth? Also, try to put the phone in airplane mode for 5 seconds and turn it off.

Step 1 - Enable Bluetooth functionality on the HTC Droid Incredible ADR6300.

*The Bluetooth power must be set to ON position to pair the handset with a Bluetooth headset.

>From the main screen, tap Menu

>Tap Settings

>Tap Wireless & networks

>Tap Bluetooth (green check mark indicates service on)

Step 2 - Put your fully charged Bluetooth headset into pairing mode.

>Starting with the headset powered off (microphone flip closed).

>Flip open the boom.

>The light should remain steadily lit in .

>Your Bluetooth accessory is now in pairing mode and ready to be paired with your handset.

Step 3 - Pair the HTC DROID Incredible with a Bluetooth Accessory.

*The Bluetooth power must be set to ON position to pair the handset with a Bluetooth headset.

>From the main screen, tap Menu.

>Tap Settings

>Tap Wireless & Networks tab

>Tap Bluetooth Settings

>Place accessory in pairing mode, see accessory pairing instructions.

>Tap Scan for Devices, device starts Searching.

The only bluetooth I use atm is in my 2011 F150 with Ford's Sync. My Charge connects fine each time i get into the truck, but then disconnects from the bluetooth after 1 minute. My motorola droid never did this.

I'm having major bluetooth sync issues with my 2011 Ford Explorer Sync and the BlueAnt device I use in my other car. I can force a sync in the Ford MyTouch, but the BlueAnt, which was working, no longer wants to sync at all.

I'm VERY disappointed in Verizon for providing a phone (albeit Samsung) with such a major problem. Not able to ensure compatability with the Bluetooth standard? Really? I just switched from AT&T and I'm already regretting the decision. The voice call quality on my 4G enabled Verizon network is noticably worse than the call quality I had on my iPhone 3GS and HTC TouchPro2 running Windows Mobile 6.5. Geez.

Hopefully Verizon Wireless does not think it is acceptable to have to manually connect my phone to my hands free systems in my cars. If so, I picked the wrong company.

I would greatly appreciate to hear from Verizon Wireless on what actions they are taking to correct this blunder.

My Charge will not stay paired with the Bluetooth system in my 2010 Toyota Tundra. So far every day when I get in the truck, gotta set up the thing all over again. This never happened with my original Motorola Droid -- it NEVER disconnected or randomly decided to make me jump through hoops. I set it up once, and never thought about it again -- always worked. What on earth is up with this phone?

I was having trouble connecting my Bluetooth headset for a while. Then I remembered that some applications that you download can either interfere or cause the device or programs in the device to not work. The application Pandora which is used for music was causing my my Bluetooth not to work and not to connect to any device. Once I uninstalled this app my Bluetooth worked perfectly. Even though you might not have installed this particular app, maybe you should go through and check different apps to see if there working against other programs on you phone..... :smileyhappy:

I have a 2011 Lincoln MKX with Sync. I also see the problem of the phone not staying connected. It will connect very quickly drop the connection. I can manually reconnect and sometime it will stay connected and sometimes it will drop again. I previously used a Moto Droid (original) and never had a single issue. This is EXTREMELY disappointing to buy the top of the line phone and it doesn't work as well as the two year old phone I got rid of. I work in OR where you are not allowed to talk on the phone without hands free and this feature loss is a real pain in the butt. I have to drive around with the phone on speakerphone mode in the cupholder. Nice...

I see numerous comments from moderators about a fix coming. It would certainly be nice to know, at least approximately, when that might be.

I recently bought the Samsung Charge as well. I love the Netflix streaming video , awesome screen, but my phone does lose it's signal very often. I had to turn off the LTE and set it to CDMA so no I only use the 3G and it losses it's signal less frequently but still does lose the signal. As far as Bluetooth, I have a DNX 9880 HD in my car. I can not dial out through the DNX 9880 HD unit, I must first dial out via the phone and let the DNX 9880 HD pick up the call. The missed calls , outgoing and incoming transfer into my Nav system, but the phonebook does not :smileysad: Very disappointed with the bluetooth capability and very disappointed with the the connectivity. Never had these problems with my plain old Motorola Droid. I hope these issues will be addressed soon. I was told by Verizon that the connectivity issue with the 4G network will be fixed by the end of the year. Can you hear me now on the Droid Charge?? No :smileysad:

I have a 2008 Range Rover. Never had a problem synching before this phone. Had a Droid X that worked flawlessly. The Samsung sometimes works, then drops the Bluetooth for no apparent reason. I just deleted the application setting per the other posts. Seems to work now but I need to see if it drops calls. This is very big issue. If the phone won't synch, it's worthless. Verizon claims that they know nothing about this issue. Well, they should read these posts.

I thought it appropriate to resurrect this thread since it appears to have just fallen off Verizon/Samsung's radar. VZW reps stated back in June that they would report the Charge's Bluetooth compatibility issues to Samsung, but it appears that's as far as it has gotten. Since then, no responses or information has been posted to this thread.

I have problems with my Charge's Bluetooth and my 2012 Ford Focus with MyFord Touch/Sync. Sometimes the phone does not connect at all and I have to manually connect it. Other times, it will connect to the car, but then drop the connection a few minutes later. The only solution I've found is to do a "battery pull" and then the phone stays connected. (for that trip). I was hoping the upgrade to Gingerbread in December would cure these problems, but it didn't.

Very frustrating and disappointing. Love the Charge, but I don't think I'm going to buy another Samsung product again. They are much to proprietary with their systems, which runs counter to the whole idea of Android's open platform in the first place. Another example of this is the Samsung Media Player is so unique to Samsung, it will not play nice with Bluetooth music streaming. I can get it to work, but I have to go through several extra and unnecessary steps to do so. ........and I'm not even gonna bring up this "cutting edge" device's complete incompatibility with the text messaging functions of a lot of the new Bluetooth systems.

Again, very disappointing. We need some help here.
